Heart SMART for the New Year

How do you envision your life in 2020? In this decade? While you write SMART goals for the New Year, remember to focus on what your heart desires.

A "SMART" goal meets these criteria:
              1. Specific - not too broad
              2. Measurable - quantify the outcome
              3. Attainable - reasonable
              4. Relevant - meaningful
              5. TIme-bound - achieve in month, quarter, year, etc.
While setting your goals or contemplating any decision, include your heart. A Huffpost article explains the human heart "possesses a heart-brain composed of about  40,000 neurons  that can sense, feel, learn and remember. The heart brain sends messages to the head brain about how the body feels."

Ask your heart, "What's SMART for me?"

Tips to Create from Your Heart

1. Before you write, touch the area of your heart with your pen or fingers. Can you feel an increase in your intuitive awareness?

2. Take a deep breath, then two more. Slowly roll your head three times one way and then three times the opposite direction. Relax.

3. Close your eyes and imagine being in an elevator that goes from your brain down to your heart. When the elevator doors open, you see your favorite spot in nature at the beach, in the woods, on a snow-capped mountain, etc. Step out of the elevator into your paradise. Connect with this peaceful environment. Then open your eyes and work on your goals, book, project, homework, report, family crisis, etc.

4. Listen to whale sounds on CDs, YouTube, etc.

Mystical Aria: Seeking the Gallion Queen (Vol 1)
New 5-Stars Review from Tween Girl
This book is about a girl named Aria who has the power to see things very far away.

Once, Aria was daydreaming when she had a vision of a planet from a different solar system. Aria found a way to connect with the aliens that live there, the Gallions. When she told her friend, Tommy, about this, he thought she was lying. One day, as Aria and the Gallions had previously planned, Aria was beamed aboard their spaceship. Tommy and Aria's older sister, Jackie, were also beamed aboard accidentally. Aria's mother had no idea how her children had disappeared and tried to rescue them. No one knew Aria's father was on a mission to capture the Gallions and destroy their spaceship. Her father didn't know that he was putting his daughters and their friend in danger.

My favorite part was when Aria, Jackie and Tommy were learning to use the singular gifts the Gallions gave them.

This book is ideal for kids nine through fifteen who enjoy sci-fi and fantasy genres. I give it four and seven-eighths stars. The introduction of the characters is a bit confusing, I had to read it again.

Fun Facts About the Author
This year I choose to focus on my health, working out at the gym or spending time outside to grow stronger. When I don't feel like swimming or taking a barre class, I ask myself, "Do I want to exercise or live in a nursing home?"

That question motivates me to go to the gym or hike in the woods.

What's your resolution and motivation?

Resolutions for a Better World

In school today, my Communication Arts teacher gave us an assignment to write our New Year's Resolutions on what we would do to make the world a better place for our parents or guardians. I thought it was a nuke-odd request, since parents or guardians are supposed to make the world a better place for their kids. I wondered who switched the rules.
