Fourth Sunday of Easter

First Fruits

I Corinthians 15:19-26

When we learn to expect bad news, we gradually stop noticing anything else. Our imaginations narrow. We stop looking for what might be beginning. Into that quiet diminishment, Paul speaks: Christ has been raised from the dead – the first fruits

of a new creation. It is an invitation to see again, to recognize what is already stirring beneath the surface. What might it mean to live as a community whose imagination

has been reoriented by Easter and whose eyes are trained on what the Spirit is already bringing to life?

Are you new to the First Congregational Church community, looking to find out more, and get better connected? Family Lunch'n Chat

Sunday, 4/26, 11:45 a.m. | Grace Gallery

For families with all ages, we'll have a family luncheon after worship on April 26th in the Grace Gallery. We will have lunch together and split into age groups: elementary, youth, and adults. The nursery will be open during this time. Stay after worship ready for good conversation and fellowship with other families here at First Cong.

Love & Snack Bag Assembly

Sunday, 4/26, 11:45 a.m. | Standish Room

Love & Snacks at GEO detention center in Aurora began when Casa de Paz saw families waiting long hours for a one-hour visit. They now share snack bags with those waiting outside. Because supplies are low again, our Racial Justice Ministry invites you to help assemble 50 bags, alongside 50 prepared by youth during Sunday School. Casa de Paz welcomes recently released asylum seekers and immigrants, accompanying them toward reunification with loved ones in a dignifying way. Want to help distribute snacks? Contact Allison Hamm to sign up and be trained.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Volunteers? Family Learning Center Nature Area

Saturday, 5/2, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

The Family Learning Center is creating a new nature area and needs your help! Join our Community Planting & Outdoor Work Days to plant trees and shrubs, create art, build sheds, and move mulch and compost. This is a great opportunity for all ages to volunteer together – come for a full day or just an hour or two. All abilities are welcome, and food and refreshments will be provided!

Spring Food Drive

Second Food Drive of 2026 Starts Next Sunday, 5/3

Pick up your free grocery bag and shopping list at church next Sunday. Aim to fill it (and maybe a few more!) by Sunday, 5/10 to help neighbors in need. News reports indicate some folks are making a hard choice between buying gas or groceries – local Food Banks play an important role in filling this need. Your donations will go to food pantries run by Boulder County AIDS Project (BCAP) and Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA). Fill the little red wagon in the Link or contact local neighborhood leaders: Bob, SE Boulder; Roy, North Boulder; Kristen, Gunbarrel/Heatherwood; and Phil, Longmont/Niwot.

Questformation Sunday

Sunday, 5/3, 8:15 and 10:30 Worship Services

Throughout the year, six of our youth have gathered to delve deeper into their faith. On Sunday, May 3rd, they will lead the congregation in worship to share about their journey and invite you to consider that of your own. Be sure to join us for coffee hour after the 10:30 a.m. Worship service to celebrate the Questers, see their faith projects, and have a piece of cake!

Grace Gifts for Public Servants

Sunday, 5/3, 11:45 a.m. | Plymouth Hall

In a season when public service can feel especially demanding,

we gather in gratitude for those who carry the weight of our common life. Join us to write thank-you notes and assemble care packages for Boulder City and County staff, offerings of encouragement and care. Come lend your hands and your words, and, if you’re able, help deliver these gifts during the week.

 Looking to the Future

First Congregational Church of Boulder is exploring several important priorities to strengthen our ministry and sustain our legacy for generations to come. These priorities have emerged through much thoughtful discussion and prayerful discernment.

The needs we are considering include establishing an unrestricted endowment to provide long-term financial stability, expanding our geothermal heating and cooling system to our historic sanctuary to decrease our carbon footprint, and supporting a future mission project that extends our commitment to compassionate justice and service.

We will begin a campaign planning study on May 11. Accurate results rely on your participation. Your answers to a set of questions will let us know which projects you consider most important and will also measure our collective support for a capital campaign.

We have hired Fellowship Development to conduct the study. We will share more details about the study, the projects, and a potential campaign in the coming weeks.

We Want Your Photos
