City Council Sine Die Ceremony

The City hosted its Sine Die on Tuesday, April 21, in Council Chambers. We extend our sincere gratitude to our outgoing councilmembers for their dedicated service and lasting impact on our community. We also warmly welcome our newly sworn-in elected officials, including Mayor Beto Lopez, and look forward to their leadership, fresh perspectives, and continued commitment to serving our residents.

Mayor Beto Lopez Appoints Mayor Pro Tem

Mayor Beto Lopez said, “Councilmember Shields brings a steady, thoughtful approach to leadership, and a clear commitment to the citizens of Lee’s Summit. I’m confident she will serve our community well in this role, and I look forward to continuing our work together to move Lee’s Summit forward.”

Pay Less. Drink Tap!

Building Safety Month

Safe buildings start with smart choices at home and in our community. Let’s build a safer, stronger community together.

Week 1: Simple Home Safety Tips

Install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and keep electrical and HVAC systems maintained.

Week 2: Meet the Pros

Our City team works behind the scenes every day to ensure buildings meet safety standards and protect our community.

Week 3: Be Prepared

Modern building codes help protect people and property during severe weather and natural disasters.

Week 4: Accessibility Matters

Safe spaces are for everyone regardless of age, ability, or circumstance.

PulsePoint Respond

Are you trained in hands-only CPR?

The Lee’s Summit Fire Department offers PulsePoint Respond, a free 911-connected mobile app that alerts citizens trained in hands-only CPR when someone nearby in a public location may need help. This allows CPR to begin in those critical minutes before emergency crews arrive.

Backflow Testing

Water customers with a known or potential cross-connection (a connection between the drinking water system and another substance or source) are required by state and local laws and regulations to install a backflow prevention assembly and have it inspected and tested annually by a certified backflow tester with a current Lee’s Summit business license.

Backflow occurs when water flows in the wrong direction, allowing contaminants to enter the public water supply. Backflow prevention devices help protect our drinking water and must be tested annually by June 30.

What needs to be tested?

• Sprinkler/Irrigation Systems

• Inground HOA/Neighborhood Pools

• Fire Sprinkler Systems

• Commercial Water Connections

• Commercial Multi-Dwelling Units/Apartments
