The Core Virtue of the Month House Challenge

Virtue of the Month – Compassion

During the month of October, we are focusing on acts of Compassion - to recognize the suffering of others, then take actions to help.

Teachers and staff will be on the lookout to reward students with special Virtue of the Month Virtue Tickets for exhibiting behavior aligned with this Core Virtue. Each Virtue of the Month Ticket earned counts towards 5 points for the students' House.

October House Service Challenge!!!

SCA participated in the St. Joseph's Candler and Savannah Morning News' Paint the Town Pink fundraiser for the Telfair Mammography Fund.

Thanks to your compassion, SCA raised $1,171.50 in donations!!!

October House Academic Challenge – Hispanic Heritage Month!!

National Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15th through October 15th. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and continue to earn points for your House, complete the House Academic Challenge - FLAGS & FACTS Challenge.  For this challenge, choose a Hispanic country to highlight by making a creative depiction of its flag and share key facts. All projects submitted will earn House points and be proudly displayed around campus to showcase the rich diversity and traditions of Hispanic nations. Help us celebrate by submitting your flags by October 15th!

The House earning the most points through this Academic Challenge will get to celebrate with a Spartan Fiesta!

📋 Instructions for Students

1. Choose a Country: Select one country from the provided list of Hispanic countries (see below). Pick a country you are unfamiliar with to learn something new!

You may draw and color it, or use creative materials such as tissue paper, fabric, buttons, pom-poms, yarn, beads, or other art supplies. Be neat and intentional with your design so the flag is still recognizable.

3. Include the Name of the Country: Write the name of your country clearly and prominently so it stands out.

4. Add Key Facts: Research your chosen country and include the following information in your project: Capital City; Population; Currency; National symbols (flower, bird, animal, or emblem); A fun cultural fact (music, food, dance, tradition, sports, etc.)

5. Presentation & Creativity: Organize your information neatly. Use color, borders, illustrations, or 3D art to make your display eye-catching. Be sure handwriting or text is legible.

6. Submit & Earn Points for Your House: Projects will be displayed around the school during Hispanic Heritage Month! Be sure to include your first and last name, Homeroom or 1 Block teacher’s name, and House st to receive credit.
