WALDPORT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TIDINGS
Happy New Year!
December 31, 2021

Dear Friends,

Well, the last six weeks of 2021 has certainly been interesting and active here in the greater Waldport community. Snow on the beach. A beautiful new lighted Christmas Tree and lots of new lights throughout town (Thank you City of Waldport). The annual Candlelight Bridge Walk. A Christmas Parade. Santa Visits (Thank you Beachcomber Days). And our annual Waldport Holiday Lights Tour in partnership with Pioneer Connect and Oregon Coast TODAY.

The Waldport Welcome Center & Gift Shop greeted many new locals and visitors for their holiday shopping. Our new neighbor, The Bee's Knees, and our friends at The Lobby Gift Shop, Eager Beaver and Waldport Barbershop lit up our little corner of Waldport with inviting lights and festive displays. Carolers from First Baptist Church entertained everyone, too!

What's coming up? We'll be announcing our first quarter Chamber meeting in the weeks ahead. We're also partnering with Oregon Coast Community College to offer free small business tax workshops in February, thanks to a generous grant from Lincoln County. If you are interested, please contact me directly.

Waldport is alive with new galleries and businesses. Donna Bader will be opening her new Fine Art Gallery on Hwy. 101 that features a fun octopus mural created by Gary Herd on the southern exterior of the building. Sarah Bratsch opened The Waldport Events Center and Art Gallery on Cedar Street and has staged many events for local artists. Vicki Wilson just opened Slipstream Clay on Hwy 34 across from Ray's Food Place, offering classes and workshops for all ages. And, Diana Buckley purchased the orginal Chuck's Video building on Commercial Street with plans for a coffee shop, art gallery and entertainment area.

Our mission is to always serve our small businesses and local non-profits. Please send me any news and information you'd like to share for future newsletters along with photos to include on our website photo gallery.

Happy New Year One & All!

Warm regards,
Tom

Waldport truly has it all. When you buy local, you directly help those who make our community a special place to live and work. Get out and browse the shops on Hwy 101, experience Old Town, take a stroll on the Lint Slough Trail and be sure to visit the newly renovated
Port of Alsea docks where you can rent a boat, toss in a crab pot,
launch your boat or kayak and dine
at several fine cafes and bistros.
Say hello to Michael Mailloux. Michael is a new volunteer with The Chamber and his
whimsical artwork is on display and for sale in The Waldport Welcome Center
& Gift Shop. Local author (and Chamber Volunteer) Paul Haeder
had the chance to interview Michael for a story
now featured in the Newport News Times. Check it out!
Without volunteers, The Chamber Welcome Center and Gift Shop and The Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center & Waldport Heritage Museum would not be open. Please consider your gift of time and talent. For volunteer opportunities, please contact Judith Hees. 541.264.0648
