Happy New Year!
And welcome back to Formation, Children’s Church, Choir, and all things kid and family related! We are rolling into the new year looking for Epiphanies in our life and setting some resolutions about our spiritual growth and learning. Here were a few of the kid’s thoughts:
Epiphanies
: that someone thought I was a good artist, that my new home IS my new home, that Jesus was not a normal kid – he got into trouble!
Resolutions
: that I will start to pray each night, that I will work on my happiness and being happy, that I will help more with chores around the house without being asked.
Maybe now is the perfect time to come up with your family's core values or a family mission statement. If you haven’t already, put your values or mission statement on the fridge for all to see. Once those are clear, everything (every consequence, every decision, every action to or for others) can be traced back to your core values.

And here is a prayer to use after your planning:
Dear God, Give us the strength to work on these goals for our family. If these are not the goals You have for us, give us Your vision for the future of our family. Help us to encourage each other to grow rather than criticize. Lord, change us from the inside out to be more like Jesus every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“Put off your old self . . . be made new in the attitude of your minds, and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV)
