VIRGINIA BEACH – As part of the Laskin Road Bridge Replacement and Widening Project, motorists should expect changes to the traffic pattern on Laskin Road between the eastern limits of the project near Red Robin Road and the Hilltop North Shopping Center as soon as Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, weather permitting.
Both westbound (toward Hilltop) travel lanes will be shifted to the right onto the newly widened roadway, allowing crews to continue roadway construction on the existing eastbound lanes. Alternating, single-lane closures will be in place starting as early as 7 a.m. until noon to help crews safely implement the shift.
This new traffic pattern will restrict:
- left-turn access from Laskin Road to the Norfolk Christian School Beach Campus and Virginia Beach Community Chapel.
- left-turn access from the Norfolk Christian School Beach Campus and Virginia Beach Community Chapel to westbound Laskin Road toward Hilltop.
- left-turn access from the Linkhorn Bay Condominiums to eastbound Laskin Road heading toward the oceanfront.
Motorists should follow the following directions to reach destinations that previously required left-turn access across Laskin Road in the vicinity of the Linkhorn Bay Condominiums and the Virginia Beach Community Chapel:
- To enter the Norfolk Christian School or Virginia Beach Community Chapel property, motorists must head west on Laskin Road and make a U-turn onto the eastbound lanes at the intersection of Laskin Road and Winwood Drive.
- To head east on Laskin Road (toward the oceanfront) from the Linkhorn Bay Condominiums, motorists must head west on Laskin Road and make a U-turn onto the eastbound lanes at the intersection of Laskin Road and Winwood Drive.
Motorists should stay alert when traveling through the work zone and obey the reduced speed limit of 35 mph.
Access to properties within this traffic shift will be maintained at all times. The alignment of eastbound lanes through this location will not change as part of this shift.
