A NOTE FROM TEDDY
As we approach the end of a busy month, one in which we spoke of stewardship among many other things, I want to emphasize something important. While financial pledging is important, this Sunday we will add one more significant step, your spiritual commitment.
In your bulletin, you will find a spiritual commitment card. If you would like to participate, on it you will write something that you plan to do this year to increase your relationship with God. It can be anything at all. Perhaps you want to volunteer at the CAC an additional day each month. Perhaps you want to commit to reading the Bible in a year. Perhaps your prayer life is where you want to focus your attention. Regardless of where you end up, I pray you will give this the same, if not more thought, as you do your financial commitment.
We will be keeping these but we will not be reading these. This is between you and God. Of course if you want to share, feel free! We will keep them in a box so we can pray for all of the commitments throughout the year.
I myself fall for the trap of placing spirituality and my relationship with God behind other things. We make plans for our finances, our schedules, our careers and families, but what would happen if we gave the same intentionality to our spiritual life? Not in a way that feels forced, but in a way that feels important.
Perhaps this Sunday is an opportunity to take one small step toward making our relationship with God not just another part of our lives, but the foundation upon which everything else is built.

IN OUR HANDS
In Our Hands is a four-week stewardship series where we will explore what it means to recognize that everything we have, our money, time, talents, relationships, and resources, is ultimately entrusted to us by God. Following Jesus through Matthew, we’ll consider how we can faithfully use what has been placed in our hands, not simply for ourselves, but for God’s work in the world.

ALL SAINTS SUNDAY
On Sunday, November 1st, we will observe All Saints Sunday. This is our annual recognition of those members of our congregation who have died in the past year. We want to remember the deceased and the many ways in which they touched our lives.
Our records indicate that we will recognize and remember the following members/Saints during the service this year: Tom Money, Philip Rowell, Elinor Tollman, and Angela Sparks.
However, we want to make sure that we do not omit someone’s name who should be mentioned. Please call the church or email Amy Frost at amy@sandyspringscc.org.

TRUNK-N-TREAT - AND/OR DONATE SOME SNACKS!
It's Fall y'all! Time for one of our most popular events of the year! Let's help make this a wonderful event for our kids and the community and don't forget to invite your friends and neighbors!
On Sunday, October 25th, we will ask you to set up and decorate trunks immediately after church and have them ready by noon. The event will start at 12:15 p.m. There will be a meal offered for kids and a service project prior to that time.
For the service project, we will be collecting sealed snacks for placement in the waiting room at the NICU at CHOA. We will be making snack bags with a note for the parents and families who are in the waiting room and staying at the hospital with their babies. Over the next few weeks you can donate small sealed snacks, treats, candy, etc. for these bags and we will be assembling them into goodie bags. We can show love to the families at CHOA and remind them that they are not alone. Suggested items are: Rice krispie treats, fruit snacks, granola bars, pretzels, candy, chips, slim jims, protein bars, jerky, popcorn, and fruit leather.
We are also asking for candy donations for Trunk-n-Treat, just drop the bags of candy off at church at the welcome desk.
PLEASE CLICK HERE to sign up your children for the event, to provide a trunk and treats and/or to help coordinate/help with the event. If you have any questions, please direct them to Carie Whittaker.

REMEMBERING PHILIP ROWELL
Dear SSCC,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of Philip Rowell, yesterday evening October 22nd, after a short hospitalization.
Philip joined SSCC in membership almost 40 years ago. Philip served in a variety of roles at SSCC throughout his ministry, including even taking care of the church grounds for many years on Saturday mornings with other members. He was an Elder, Deacon, Trustee, and regularly attended the Thursday breakfast group. He truly loved God and his neighbor. He will be missed by many.
While final details for a service are in the works, it will take place at Sandy Springs Christian Church the afternoon of Nov. 1st. In the meantime, please keep Philip's family in your prayers, especially his loving wife of 40 years, Cordelia.
Peace, Teddy
