New location now open inside the lobby of the Giddings Economic Development Corporation

Visit us in the lobby of the Giddings Economic Development Corporation (EDC) at 924 E. Austin St, Giddings, TX 78942. We're open M-F 10A-6P and SAT 10A-1P.

You'll find our familiar, friendly staff, plus more than 400 books available for checkout. To keep our tiny collection circulating, there's a checkout limit of 5 books per account, a 14-day checkout period, and no renewals. For now we're not able to accept book reserves or book donations. The outdoor book drop at the library building (276 N. Orange St.) will close Friday, April 24. After that date, all books must be returned during opening hours at the library's temporary location within the EDC lobby.

During the emergency closure, all due dates were put on hold, and no books went into overdue status. (Any materials that were due or overdue prior to the closure were not affected. All items that were already in an overdue status remain in an overdue status.) Now that we're open again, all due dates have shifted accordingly.

To check your due dates, log into your library account by visiting our online library catalog. In the top right corner, log into your library account using your library card number. Your password is automatically set to your 10-digit phone number (no dashes or parentheses). Visit our website for tutorials on logging into your account.

Once logged in, you can visit the "Items Out/Renewals" tab to locate due dates.

Our temporary location also provides a scaled-down version of office services, including:

  • Faxing
  • Laminating
  • Scanning to email
  • Copying/printing up to 50 pages
  • Two public-use computers with internet (one-hour time limit)

There is no public WiFi at the temporary location.

Please stop by soon to see us. We've missed you!

PS: This temporary location would not have been possible without the immense support and hard work of the library staff, Giddings Economic Development Corporation, City of Giddings staff, City of Giddings mayor and council, and Computer Network Technologies.

We're so grateful for all the support the community has shown us during this time. Thank you for your patience as we continue learning to serve in new ways and from new locations!
