Stay in the Know

Important Health and Wellness Notice

As our communities are impacted by cold and flu season, the district would like to share some important health and safety reminders to ensure our students and staff are staying well.

Students and staff are encouraged to stay home if they are experiencing the following symptoms:

  • Persistent cough or other cold symptoms
  • A fever of 100.4° or higher
  • Suspected flu or COVID-19 or a positive diagnosis via testing
  • Suspected or diagnosed strep throat
  • Vomiting or uncontrolled diarrhea

A return to school is indicated when:

  • A fever is gone for 24-hours without the use of fever-reducing medications
  • Acute symptoms have been gone for 24-hours (congestion and cough can take 1-2 weeks to clear)
  • In the event of a diagnosed bacterial infection, a return is indicated 24-hours after starting antibiotics
  • 24-hours after vomiting has ended

Staying home when sick is the best way to prevent the spread of illness! Tips can be found under the “helpful documents” section of the Health Services webpage.

Additionally, the district is increasing cleaning measures to help alleviate the spread of germs in school buildings.

Together, we can ensure our students and staff stay healthy and ready to learn this winter!

SEL Night at CSU Basketball

SEL Schools is excited to partner with Cleveland State University to host two special SEL Nights featuring both men’s and women’s basketball this winter. CSU will celebrate this partnership with student tours, in-game recognition, and other special experiences.

Strategic Planning - Parent Listening Session

The district is at a pivotal moment as we prepare for the development of a new Strategic Plan for the district. It covers a wide variety of topics that are important to our schools and community – including academics, finances, programming, facilities, technology, culture, and communications.

We want to make sure we are hearing from our main stakeholders, our parents. Your thoughts and opinions are an important part of this process and key to ensuring that we are heading in the right direction.

That is why we are inviting you to attend our upcoming parent listening session on Wednesday, January 28, at 6 p.m. at the Brush Cafeteria. The listening sessions will be facilitated by independent moderators. Everything you say will be kept confidential and will only be used in the context of a summary report. Your name will not be used in the report.

Please RSVP using this Google form.

Share What You Wear Clothing Drive

SELTA is sponsoring their annual Share What You Wear clothing drive now through January 24. If you find yourself cleaning out closets over winter break, consider bringing items to one of the donation bins located in the front office at each of the school buildings. While school buildings will be closed over break, items can be donated when school resumes on or after January 5.

New and gently used winter gear (jackets, gloves, scarves, boots, etc.); baby, toddler, and kids clothing; and tween and teen clothing are the most needed items.

Share What You Wear is a project of National Council of Jewish Women/Cleveland that creates personally-shopped, gender- and size-specific clothing and toiletry bags for distribution to children in need or in crisis locally. For more information about the project, visit ncjwcleveland.org.
