Altar Guild Day With Michael McNeely

St. Paul's Altar Guild and friends of the Altar Guild were treated to a wonderful day of learning, training, and fellowship on Saturday, August 22. Michael McNeely, Canon for Cathedral Life at Trinity Cathedral in Little Rock, traveled to St. Paul's to spend the day sharing stories, history, interesting information, and hands-on training. Those attending included not only current altar guild members, but also other members of the parish who were interested in hearing the presentation and learning more about the altar guild. The day was filled with lots of Aha! moments and practical tips of the trade as well as laughter, fellowship, and sheer joy. Anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the altar guild will be warmly welcomed to this vital and important ministry! If you are interested, please get in touch with Ann Hout and she will help with training, scheduling, and getting you paired up with an experienced member who will serve as a mentor to help you get comfortable in this new role.

Newport Football Team Hosted By ECW

On Friday, September 4th, the ECW of St. Paul’s hosted the Newport Greyhound football team and coaches for lunch. The ladies provided a delicious meal and all seemed to enjoy the food! We served approximately 60 players, coaches, and team managers! Needless to say, there were very few leftovers! This is the fourth year the ECW has participated with other churches and organizations in the community to feed the team. It is always a pleasure to have them at St. Paul’s and to have the opportunity to support the youth at our school. This is another way the ECW is involved in the Newport/Jackson County community! Go Hounds!!

Lay Eucharistic Visitors

Lay Eucharistic Visitors help with an important need at our church as they are sent out from the altar to carry the consecrated bread and wine to several parishioners who cannot attend church on Sunday mornings due to health concerns or mobility issues. This ministry is vital to help keep those individuals connected to the body of Christ and to the church itself. If you are interested in training for this vital ministry in the church, please let Teresa know. We have one regular LEV currently, but would love to have a few more. Thanks!
