Speakers

Will Doyle is an associate attorney with Kato, Feder and Suzuki, LLP. Will concentrates on estate planning, long-term care and special needs planning. He assists professional and non-professional fiduciaries, as well as interested third parties. Will received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at San Diego and his law degree from Golden Gate University, graduating with Honors and multiple class awards, including a CALI award for excellent achievement in the study of Wills & Trusts. While a student at Golden Gate University, Will concurrently received a Masters of Laws in Taxation, as well as a certificate of completion of evaluated instruction in Mediation and Conflict Resolution.

Melanie J. Emmons is an associate attorney with Kato, Feder and Suzuki, LLP. Ms. Emmons concentrates on conservatorships, limited conservatorships, guardianships, trust and probate administration and litigation, long-term care planning and estate planning. She provides workshops about limited conservatorship at Support For Families of Children with Disabilities. She represents professional and non-professional fiduciaries, as well as interested third parties.

Scholarship Benefits:


  • Full Registration: The scholarship covers the cost of symposium registration, giving recipients access to all sessions and materials.
  • Travel Allowance: Recipients will receive a reasonable travel allowance to help cover transportation expenses to and from the symposium location.
  • Accommodations: The scholarship includes accommodation for the duration of the symposium, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay.
  • Meals and Reception: Recipients will receive meals and attend all receptions during the symposium.


Eligibility Criteria:


To be eligible for the Trisha Friedeberg Special Needs Planning Symposium Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be in law school, hold a valid law degree, be licensed in your professional field.
  2. Have less than five years of experience in the field of law.
  3. Demonstrate a strong commitment to special needs and conservatorship law.
  4. Be available to attend the Special Needs Planning Symposium from February 22-24, 2024


Interested candidates should submit the following documents to Kevin@Urbatsch.com by November 27, 2023:

  1. A resume or curriculum vitae (CV).
  2. A one-page personal statement detailing their passion for special needs and conservatorship law and why they should be considered for this scholarship.
  3. A letter of recommendation from professionals familiar with the applicant’s qualifications and commitment to the field.
