Letter of Understanding

We signed a Letter of Understanding (LOU) establishing a formal arrangement between the Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAASTeam) and the Florida Aviation Network in July 2020 to promote aviation safety awareness and training to all airmen and industry service providers. We renewed the LOU in January 2026. With these agreements Florida Aviation Network officially is a

FAASTeam Industry Member.

The Florida Aviation Network is a project of the National Aviation Safety Foundation.

The FAASTeam's mission is "To lower the Nation's aviation accident rate by conveying safety principles and practices through training, outreach and education while establishing partnerships and encouraging the continual growth of a positive safety culture within the aviation community."

How can you Help?

The Florida Aviation Network (FAN) is a project of the National Aviation Safety Foundation (NASF), a registered IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. All donations are fully tax deductible. NASF is a group whose objective is dedicated to producing videos and programs aimed at enhancing "aviation safety" through educational programs.

We need your support to continue our work in these programs.

 Be a Volunteer!

Our volunteer production crew members are "professionals" in their own right from airline crews to TV and broadcast professionals. They contribute their time and expertise to make the various projects successful.  During the year we provide extensive support for projects, perform safety seminars and provide wide dissemination of safety related information to all interested parties. These activities are recorded and produced specifically for the individual organizations who we "partner" with to promote aviation safety across the spectrum.

Simply stated, we are an organization that promotes aviation and aviation safety. The "broadcast" and "production" parts of the operation are tools (among others) that we use in order to accomplish those goals.

"Join the excitement - Share the joy of Aviation." We are looking to expand our volunteer crew. If you are interested or know someone that is interested, drop me a note at

Obie.Young@FloridaAviationNetwork.com .

Support can be in front of the camera, behind the camera, helping with guests, helping the crew or spreading the word about our broadcasts and social media.

We are advised by Guide Star that our Nonprofit (NASF) has earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency in 2026.  We are also advised that we are part of the top 5 percent of profiles on GuideStar.

Support for NASF / FAN

The Florida Aviation Network has year round sponsors that commit to our basic funding. These sponsors, however, are not able to provide enough funding for all our events. FAN is dependent on corporate and your private donations.

We launched our first Florida Aviation Network (FAN) Satellite Broadcast over 25 years ago on May 5, 2001. We volunteer with the Florida Aviation Network. Programs are normally broadcast live and pre-recorded through an effort of the National Aviation Safety Foundation, a non-profit 501(C)(3). We carry aviation events from across the United States.

When we are on the Air via Satellite or Streaming over the internet, a reliable connection is critical. That is why we depend on NEMAL cabling. NEMAL has been a long time supporter of FAN. Congratulations on receiving the EMMY this year.
