ABOUT THE SERIES

The National HIV/AIDS Housing Coalition invites abstracts for the HIV & Housing Research & Policy Series, four virtual webinars held January–March 2027 on Thursday afternoons (ET). Specific dates will be announced soon. Each 90–120-minute session features 3–4 selected presentations of 12–15 minutes each, followed by moderated discussion.

Housing is one of the strongest drivers of HIV outcomes. A 2026 U.S. meta-analysis found that people experiencing homelessness had less than half the odds of viral suppression of their housed peers (O'Grady et al., 2026), and randomized trials show that supportive housing improves survival and immune health while reducing hospital use (Buchanan et al., 2009; Wolitski et al., 2010). The open questions are practical: what housing costs and saves, how it is financed, and which housing models best support people with HIV. With federal HIV housing funding under pressure, the series presents research to inform advocacy and puts current evidence in front of the people making funding, program and policy decisions.

Webinars will reach HIV and housing service providers, researchers, health departments, HOPWA and Ryan White grantees, Medicaid and managed care staff, policymakers and people with lived experience.

TOPIC AREAS

We welcome abstracts in four areas:

Work addressing racial equity, or populations such as youth, women, transgender people, people who use drugs, older adults and people leaving incarceration, is especially welcome.

Researchers, evaluators, health departments, housing and HIV service providers, community-based organizations, payers and people with lived experience. Completed studies, work in progress, program evaluations and analyses of program data are all eligible. Previously presented or published work is welcome if the findings remain current. This call is open to work conducted in the United States only.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL HIV/AIDS HOUSING COALITION

The National HIV/AIDS Housing Coalition (NHAHC) is a national nonprofit that advocates for housing, policies, and resources to advance the health of people living with HIV. NHAHC advances this work through research, policy advocacy and technical assistance, including its HOME TA Center. As the National AIDS Housing Coalition, NHAHC co-convened the North American Housing and HIV/AIDS Research Summit Series, which since 2005 has brought together researchers, policymakers, service providers and people with HIV to put housing research into practice. The HIV & Housing Research Series continues that work. Learn more at Nationalaidshousing.org.
