LOG CABIN INN

Hi Everyone! It's time to have another look at another classic Hotel in our Community!

The Log Cabin Inn was built in 1925 by Alec Fraser for General Noel Money. It had a restaurant and a large hall, with cabins being added later. From 1929 - 1936 it was owned by the Cunninghams, followed by the Stevens and the Ogilve's.

From 1947 to 1959 it was owned by the Hilliards. In the mid-50s a severe storm smashed the breakwater and badly damaged the hall, which was never used again. It was owned by the Castles from 1959 to 1969. The building was taken down to make way for the new Sand Pebbles motel and restaurant.

The Log Cabin has a special place in the hearts of old time residents. The dances, often with a live band from Nanaimo, were important social events for young people. The hall was also used for roller skating.
