Happy Friday Coyotes!
It was a nice end to the week, with a freshmen tailgate at the FB game yesterday, and an awesome Club Rush today during lunch. I love seeing students connecting with each other and with their school groups. I got some pics of a few clubs out there promoting to the newbies!
The theme for tonight's game is Red, White, and Blue...so come Defend the Den in your patriotic colors. Check out the new theme shirt for tonight...
Great job Mindy on your fantastic patriotic design. So talented!

The City of Buena Park will be hosting our next round of exchange students from our sister city in South Korea. This is a great connection we have with our city and with the greater global community. If you'd like to host 1-2 students during their week here, please see the flyer below.
Remember our schoolwide strategies and keep working toward proper dress code and attendance. Next week, students who are habitually tardy, absent, or out of dress code will lose off-campus lunch privileges. Don't let that be you! In-Class/On-Time/In-Code
Attention Parents: With the redesign of Academy Drive, parking and traffic enforcement will be ticketing. Please utilize the student parking lot queue during drop-off and while waiting to pick-up in the afternoon. Do not double park or wait anywhere on Academy Drive unless in appropriately marked parking spaces. We don't want our families to get ticketed.
Don't forget...Monday is a federal holiday...so take time and relax!
Check out below...Fernando and Dean are back, in the first episode of The Misadventures of Fernandean. You don't want to miss the random hilarity that is our infamous dynamic duo.
Have a great Labor Day weekend Coyotes!

Coming back from a summer hiatus, our dynamic duo needed to take inventory of the changes in and around campus that had occurred since their last escapade a couple months ago. Not getting too far from their lair, the duo spotted a new structure peeking up from behind the science buildings out at the Ag Farm. Lo and behold, a new gleaming structure of glass and... click here to read the rest of the story

Congratulations to William Buth-Chan for earning the first SACA (Smart Automation Certification Alliance) certification of the 2024-2025 school year at Buena Park High School. After passing the written exams last year, William went for his GOLD certification in the C-103 Certified Industry 4.0 Associate - Robot Systems Operations and the C-215, a similar micro credential. Both certs are assessed on a FANUC LR Mate industrial robot (pictured), and are considered introductory credentials that prepare individuals to operate industrial robots and other industry 4.0 technologies in a modern production environment. These certification are ideal for manufacturing technicians, maintenance technicians and IT professionals seeking to become versed in robot system operations.
This past Tuesday, the Agriculture Department hosted a hugely successful "Get Your Grade Night," with over 300 people in attendance eager to learn about the department's offerings and the FFA program. New this year, our leadership team introduced a Spanish version of the event, ensuring accessibility for all families. Agriculture teachers and students presented the various opportunities available, and a special thank you goes to Carlos Franco for his invaluable assistance with the Spanish version. We are excited for another great year ahead!
We're looking for community support in a special initiative for our students at Buena Park High School. Our FFA program is offering personalized FFA jackets to our members, which are not just uniforms, but symbols of pride, leadership, and community.
For just $82, you can sponsor a student’s FFA jacket, which includes the cost of the jacket, an FFA tie or scarf, and shipping and handling. This sponsorship helps a young person embrace their potential and wear their jacket with pride.
If you would like to make a donation, you can easily do so by visiting coyoteffaalumniandsupporters.org. Your generosity would make a meaningful impact on a student's life, fostering their growth in agriculture and leadership.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our future leaders.

Today, students got creative in their floral class by making beautiful paper flowers. With an array of vibrant colors and different techniques, they transformed simple sheets of paper into stunning floral arrangements. It was a hands-on experience that allowed them to explore their artistic skills while learning about the structure and design of flowers. The room was filled with excitement as each student proudly showcased their unique creations, adding a personal touch to the classroom’s decor.
Congratulations to Martita Aguilar, the proud recipient of a brand new FFA jacket! This special milestone marks her commitment and dedication to the Future Farmers of America organization. The jacket is not just a symbol of achievement, but also a representation of the hard work and passion she brings to everything she does. Well done, Martita!
Boys Water polo were battle tested this week and will continue their games in the Corona Tournament on Saturday. The Coyotes take on Citrus Valley at 9am at Buena Park.
The girls volleyball program has a new leader on the sidelines. Coach Alonso Ledezma and his coaching staff has done a quick turnaround in 2 months and half and has the girls playing at a high level. The Varsity team is 2-5, 0-2 in league so far but don't let their record fool you. Almost every set lost this season has been by within 3-4 points, and they've taken sets from every team, going 5 games in multiple matches. This past week in league, Freshman Setter Eleanor Kailiponi has been leading the offense and defense with 42 Assists, 25 Digs, 8 Aces and 8 Kills. Along with one of the captains, Senior Middle Angela Guzman has been dominant with 17 Kills, 11 Blocks and 6 Aces. Their next big threat is Junior Outside Liana Duran with 11 Kills, 12 Digs and 9 Aces. Come out to today's match vs Dominguez to support the girls volleyball program. Next week on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 they will host Garden Grove High School which is another league opponent and then travel on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 to Magnolia High School for a non league match.
Girls Soccer will be having tryouts! New players and 9th graders will try outs on Thursday, September 12th at 3:45 pm to 5pm. All returning players will tryout on Friday, September 13th at 3:45 pm to 5 pm.
Tomorrow (8/31) Cross Country has their first race of the season! We will be kicking off our miles at Mt. SAC for the first ever Mountie Xpress invitational. These 2.3 miles are going to be a great way to ease into the season.
Girls golf pre-season begins next week with a boom in numbers. Senior Bryanna Garcia and Sophomore Olivia Cervantes Mendez are leading the pack and helping prepare the new golfers at the Tiger Woods Center and during practice rounds. We continue to get new golfers to the school and out on the course...there's a bright future in store for the lady Golfers.
Girls Flag Football started their season. Please make sure to come out to the first home game on Wednesday, September 4th at 7 pm. Varsity will be playing against Anaheim High School!
Buena Park Football opened up against Cerritos high school last week during week 0. Even tho the outcome was not what we were looking for the players attitude, effort, and determination was there. Excited about playing our arrival sunny hills this week and also excited about all the experience we got out of our first week during Cerritos. This team is still coming together as a unit a lot of young talent to build on and capitalize on.
Congratulations frosh-soph football on their 44-21 win vs Sunny Hills yesterday. They're now 2-0 to start the season. Great games boys!

Coyote Corner
"Support is just around the corner"
| |
Buena Park High School values all student’s social-emotional health, and we have developed a center that houses resources to support students throughout the day. Students who need a safe place to cope with anxiety, stress or need someone to talk to can visit our COYOTE CORNER (Room 27) at the front of the school. The Corner is open before and after school, during lunch and breaks, by appointment with a therapist, or with a pass from a teacher or administrator. Please stop in and visit and know that "Support is just around the CORNER."
Hey Coyotes,
Taking advantage of mental health resources is essential for maintaining balance and resilience. It allows you to better cope with stress and navigate life's challenges. Students...do you know your SLOs
Student Learning Outcomes |
The purpose of SLOs are to increased student awareness of their own learning
Explicitly-stated learning goals give students a way to think and talk about what they have learned. They make it easier for students to “know what they know” and give students a language to communicate what they know to others. Such awareness is considered central to learning that lasts.
