President's Message

Thank you to everyone who attended the condo’s Annual Meeting in December or submitted a proxy. Because of your participation, we were able to elect the next Board and have a thoughtful, productive discussion. The conversation was respectful and gave everyone who wished to speak the opportunity to do so.

Please plan to attend our next Annual Meeting on November 19, 2026; or, if you can’t, please remember to send in your proxy. Participation really matters, and it’s not too early to put it on your calendar now!

Once again, Summit View’s holiday party was a smashing success. Check out the photos and article in this newsletter for proof! By popular demand, we reprised (or perhaps “performed”) The Twelve Days of Christmas, with my colorful posters and accompaniment by our wonderful pianist, Will Bennett, who led the sing-along that followed.

The food was so good this year that next year we may need little cards naming each dish and its contributor, so we know who to thank (and possibly beg for recipes!).

Community Building Litigation Update

By April 2026, Summit View's goal is for the Washtenaw County Circuit Court to enter an order confirming the Arbitration Award. Once that occurs, Summit View will be able to seek enforcement of the award through the Court. This means we could pursue monetary penalties against Walden Hills each time they violate the Agreement or a court order. Importantly, this enforcement mechanism would allow for much faster relief, without having to repeat the lengthy arbitration process that brought us to this point.

For those interested, here is a link to a summary of all communications regarding this litigation which was sent to co-owners the last week of January.

Summit View Website

This is a reminder that our website contains just about all the information you might need as a member of the Summit View community. And the url is pretty easy to remember: summitviewcondos.com. The available information is restricted to co-owners, although the opening page is available to the public. The website includes forms, bylaws, minutes from board meetings, links to the newsletters and more. Please take a minute to check it out!

Holiday Party in the Community Building

Every year, our winter holiday party seems to outdo itself. With the amazing dishes from our co-owners and beverages provided by Walden Management, it was another terrific success this year. But honestly, nothing tops what our community members bring to the party! Click here to relive the fun we had, or what you might have missed!

Spotlight on Liz Hood

hereIf you’ve ever seen a flash of purple faux fur, bright pink hair, or bedazzled glasses in the hallway, you’ve likely met Liz Hood, your neighbor at 2140 Pauline. Liz brings color, curiosity, humor, and a wonderfully eclectic spirit to our community. From wetland ecology to Whole Foods management, rhinestoned cockroaches to Bahamian festivals, Liz’s story is anything but ordinary.

Liz’s educational path reflects her adventurous curiosity. She began college as a theater major at Eastern Michigan University, then transferred to the University of Michigan, where she explored math and physics, learned Japanese to satisfy a science degree requirement, and ultimately found her calling in the natural world.

Summit View needs a volunteer to take over the coordination of the bimonthly newsletter. If you are a creative person with a few hours a month of free time to exercise your organizational and creative skills, send an email to tracey@waldenannarbor.com.
