Welcome to Carpe Datum’s weekly newsletter, the Federal Data Prospector, the only publication of its kind dedicated exclusively to data and analytics companies that share our passion for serving the public sector. Our featured items begin with the U.S. Coast Guard's request for advanced artificial intelligence services to analyze and optimize its supply chain management processes. The solicitation seeks AI solutions capable of analyzing existing data, identifying weaknesses, driving operational efficiencies, and providing actionable recommendations to inform future procurement decisions.

In other data news, on August 26th, NextGov/FCW published an article entitled CMS launches ‘chili cook-off competition’ to source AI that can detect fraud. In this story, Edward Graham describes the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) competition to source innovative AI solutions for fraud detection. The competition provides a unique opportunity for vendors to demonstrate their capabilities using real Medicare claims data, with the potential for finalists to win a contract with the agency.

  • 'We get to see how all your great technologies work and how it actually can add value, but yet, at the same time, we don't have the capability to judge those ourselves,' she [Kim Brandt, CMS Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Administrator] said. 'So by putting it like that, it gives everybody a level playing field, but it also allows us to then get to really see some cool aspects and hopefully be able to put them to use in the next year.'”
