Spring 2026 Fast-Track Career Programs

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) announced a renewed focus on engaging college applicants by highlighting its suite of flexible, fast-track programs for a Spring 2026 start. The initiative aims to provide new students, especially those new to higher education, with immediate, affordable, and practical paths to career advancement without the commitment of a traditional multi-year degree.

LCCC recognizes that many prospective students are seeking ways to quickly and affordably gain skills that directly translate to job opportunities. By emphasizing short-term options, the college is encouraging applicants to accelerate their momentum and begin their educational journey in the new year.

“Starting a college career can feel daunting, which is why we’ve built clear, short-term entry points designed to fit any lifestyle,” said Jennifer Aquila, LCCC’s Executive Director of Enrollment. “These programs allow applicants to gain valuable, in-demand credentials quickly and affordably. Whether they are looking for immediate foundational college credit or workforce training, Spring 2026 is the perfect time to launch.”

LCCC is promoting two primary options for accelerated enrollment:

  • Short-Term Credit or Diploma Programs: These focused curricula allow students to earn valuable college credentials. The credits and diplomas are often stackable, meaning they can be fully applied toward a full Associate Degree should the student choose to continue their education later.
  • Fast-Track Workforce Development: These intensive, hands-on training programs are designed for immediate job certification. Popular high-demand fields include healthcare, skilled trades, and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training, with many programs completed in a matter of weeks or months.

LCCC encourages all applicants who have not yet enrolled to connect with an Admissions expert immediately to discuss their goals and secure their program placement for the new year.

Job Fair Success! Connecting Talent with Opportunity

Amazon Web Services Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing Micro-Course

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) empowered skilled workers and built direct pathways to employment through a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Sumitomo Electric Lightwave. Together, we hosted a free Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing Micro-Course at the college on November 19, designed to train workers for in-demand, high-tech jobs in fiber optic installation and repair.

The course was a four-hour training program that combined classroom instruction with hands-on learning. Demonstrations included splicing, connector work, and testing. Amazon then connected these learners to fiber-broadband employers.

Fiber optic cables are the backbone of the modern world, carrying internet, TV, and telephone data. Because they’re made up of tiny glass tubes, repairing and testing them required specialized training. These skills have become increasingly essential for building the networks that power 5G, cloud infrastructure, and data centers. AWS partnered with Sumitomo Electric Lightwave to host free Fusion Splicing Certificate Courses at colleges across the United States.

Students from all over participated in this hands-on event, applying practical skills like patching, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables. Throughout the workshop, they gained valuable real-world experience working with specialized equipment and techniques that are essential to the industry. This learning opportunity allowed attendees to strengthen their technical abilities while exploring a rapidly growing field.

This free course was part of Amazon’s $20 billion planned investment in Pennsylvania to build multiple AI and cloud computing data center campuses. This commitment, described as the largest private sector investment in the state’s history, is expected to create at least 1,250 new high-skilled jobs and support thousands more in the supply chain. Beyond job creation, Amazon will implement workforce development programs—including specialized data center technician training—and launch the $250,000 Amazon Northeastern Pennsylvania Community Fund to support local initiatives in STEM, sustainability, and well-being.

Financial Acumen Training for McLean Packaging

LCCC’s Center for Workforce Development recently finished a six-week training program on Financial Acumen and Business Strategy for McLean Packaging Corporation, a leader in creating high-quality, paper-based packaging and display solutions.

This hybrid coaching and training program for McLean’s Supervisors was designed to bridge the gap between strong leadership and solid business acumen, giving supervisors the tools to see beyond daily operations and make choices that drive long-term results.

Through a blend of targeted training sessions and one-on-one coaching, LCCC’s Professional Development Facilitator, Wendy Beltzner, helped them strengthen their financial awareness, operational understanding, and strategic thinking, ensuring they are ready to contribute at a higher level within their jobs.
