FRIDAY FLASH

April 14, 2022

A Message from Headmaster Scott

If, by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you

   Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

   But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

   Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

   And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

   If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

   And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

   Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

   And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

   And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

   And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

   To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

   Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

   Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

   If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

   With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

   And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Academy Giving - Tax Credit

ONLY FOUR MORE DAYS

We currently are at 82% of our Tax Credit goal!! We need 29 more Tax Credits to reach goal. If you are doing your taxes this weekend, don’t forget this EASY WAY to support the school. RE-DIRECT your tax dollars that would otherwise go to the state of AZ and allow them to benefit our Field Trips and Extracurricular Programs at Archway Trivium West. Encourage anyone else you know with AZ state tax liability to do the same! Help us make the Silly Sock Celebration a reality for the scholars!  bit.ly/ArchwayTriviumTC

AG 4-14.png

HELP US REACH GOAL BY REACHING OUT TO YOUR NETWORK IN ARIZONA – there is simply NO EASIER WAY to financially support our school than encouraging Arizona state tax-payers to re-direct tax dollars to the school. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK THEM!!!!

Tax Tips

Tax tips.jpg

1) For 2021, The CARES Act allows taxpayers to claim a $300 (single)/$600 (married) deduction for cash gifts to a 501c3 like Trivium even if you use the standard deduction and do not itemize. This is in addition to your standard deduction!!!

2) As a reminder, Great Hearts changed its policy for 2021, and emailed Cumulative Giving Receipts have not been sent as in years past.

  • For gifts made by check, please use mailed receipts.
  • For one-time gifts made using a credit card, please search your email in-box using the following “Thank you for your gift” Trivium.
  • For monthly/recurring gifts made by credit card, please search your email in-box using the following “Successful scheduled transaction.”

Any charitable gifts made to Great Hearts such as the Telethon or the Teacher Excellence Fund are receipted by Great Hearts.

For additional assistance, please email our Academy Giving Manager, Annann Hong, at ahong@archwaytrivium.org.

State Testing Dates (3rd-5th Grade Students Only)

testing-main.jpg

Please mark your calendars for the following state-testing dates. In order to best prepare for the exams, we ask that you take note of the dates below and plan ahead. If a student leaves the testing environment, s/he cannot continue their exam and it will be submitted as-is. Please do not schedule appointments for these dates or pull your children out early.

We recommend that your scholars get a good night's sleep the day before and a nutritious breakfast in the morning. Please have students bring the following: a healthy snack and water bottle for the break during testing.

Additionally, all students should bring a set of headphones, as certain parts of the test require audio. These must not be Bluetooth headphones, but be able to connect via an auxiliary cord.

3rd Grade: April 4, 5, 25, 26

4th Grade: April 7, 19, 21

Astronaut Inspires Trivium Students

We were honored to have Dr. Sian Proctor speak to our scholars this week about her journey into space as the mission pilot for the Inspiration4 all-civilian orbital mission. Dr. Proctor is a geoscientist, educator, explorer, artist, poet, and astronaut. Her dynamic presentation encouraged students to keep learning and to be inquisitive to pursue their passions. We were so grateful to have her inspire our students with her wisdom!

Traffic Flow

Thank you for your patience and caution during student drop-off and pick-up. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance.

As a reminder, to minimize the backup of traffic on Encanto/Bullard before the end of the school day, we are closing the Encanto entrance to our school parking lot from 2:35-3:00pm. Goodyear Police will be monitoring traffic on Encanto and Bullard during this time, and if you are stopped on one of these roads waiting to enter campus, you may be ticketed.

On Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, families who are picking up Archway-only students should arrive to campus AFTER 3:10 PM. Families picking up both Archway and Prep students, please remind your Prep students to arrive to the pick-up zone promptly.

On Wednesdays, families picking up BOTH Archway and Prep students are asked to arrive AFTER 1:40 PM. On Wednesdays, families picking up Archway-only should arrive at 1:25PM.

Parents picking up Archway students from school MUST use the Archway pickup line. Prep students picking up Archway students to meet a parent driver may NOT load into a car in the Prep pick-up line or on Palm Lane. The entrance/exit to our parking lot from Encanto Blvd is right turn only.
