Important Update: Proposed Support Broker Changes
We wanted to share an update regarding proposed changes to Consumer-Directed Services in Virginia. DMAS is currently considering a transition from the existing Services Facilitation model to a Support Broker model, with implementation proposed to begin regionally in 2027.
What Does This Mean Right Now?
At this time, your current Services Facilitation services remain in place. There are still details being developed regarding how the Support Broker model may work, how transitions may occur, and what families can expect moving forward.
Toddlers To Grandparents is staying in communication with the appropriate agencies and organizations involved in this process so that we can better understand the upcoming changes and provide our members and families with accurate information.
We hope to have additional guidance and direction soon and will continue sharing updates as more information becomes available.
An Opportunity to Share Your Feedback
DMAS is currently accepting public comments regarding the proposed changes.
Public comment provides members, families, Employers of Record, attendants, advocates, and others involved in Consumer-Directed Services with an opportunity to share their experiences and perspectives.
You may wish to share feedback about:
- Your experience with Services Facilitation
- What has been helpful to you and your family
- The importance of consistency and familiarity in your services
- Questions you may have about the Support Broker model
- What you feel would help make any future transition as smooth as possible
- Any other experiences or suggestions you would like DMAS to consider
Your comment does not need to be long or formal. A simple explanation of your experience and what is important to you or your family is perfectly appropriate.
