Dear AL Community,
Following the successful passage of the KCPS bond, Kansas City Public Schools and its nine charter partners, including Académie Lafayette, are now working together to phase capital improvements across more than 40 buildings. In addition, AL leadership is pursuing another opportunity that could help secure even more resources for our schools.
All proposed projects go through a structured approval process led by KCPS and Eskie + Associates to ensure transparency, quality, and efficiency. At AL, we are in the early planning stages. RFPs have been issued for turf and roofing upgrades at both Oak and Cherry, with other priorities still under review. A dedicated page on our website is in development to keep families informed—stay tuned for updates.
Two years ago, we invested in enhancing the Cherry playground. In that same spirit, we are now working with Oak parents to improve the Oak playground. This project is separate from bond-funded initiatives and will be supported through other means. We will share more details as plans develop.
Lastly, please join us in congratulating Brad Lewis, who has been elected as the new parent-elect member of the AL Board of Directors. Thank you to everyone who participated in the election.
Wishing you a safe and restful extended weekend, and thank you for your continued support!
