Monday, July 21st, 7:30-9:00 Central / 8:30-10:00 Eastern ZOOM
Republicans in Congress just passed what they proudly call a “Big Beautiful Bill”, but for working families, students, women, immigrants, and low-income communities across the country, it’s anything but beautiful.
Join Indivisible Illinois for a powerful virtual panel featuring U.S. Representatives Nikki Budzinski, Sean Casten, and Lauren Underwood as we break down the devastating consequences of this legislation, which we are calling the “Big Ugly Bill.” This Republican-led megabill delivers a $4.5 trillion tax break to billionaires and mega-corporations while gutting vital programs like Medicaid, SNAP, Planned Parenthood, and federal student aid.
What’s at stake:
-17 million people will lose health care due to record Medicaid and ACA cuts
- 11 million Americans will lose food assistance from SNAP
- Over 200 Planned Parenthood clinics could shut down, even in states where abortion is legal
- $75 billion to supercharge ICE for detention centers and mass deportations
- Student borrowers face crippling loan limits and fewer repayment options
- Pell Grant recipients, especially part-time, low-income, and immigrant students, will be hit hard
This bill is a full-scale attack on the people our elected leaders are supposed to represent, all so Trump and his billionaire donors can buy more yachts and rocket ships.
Hear directly from Representatives Budzinski, Casten, and Underwood:
- How this bill will impact their constituents
- What Democrats in Congress are doing to fight back
- What you can do to hold Republican lawmakers accountable
