STEP Program Receives Pre-Apprenticeship Approval!

New Century Careers is pleased to announce that its Student Training and Exploration Program (STEP) is now a PA State Registered Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

STEP is designed to help high school students build a strong foundation in STEM and explore careers in advanced manufacturing.

To participate in the STEP Pre-Apprenticeship, high schools must have a free elective period or a pre-existing manufacturing elective course.

Through STEP, students gain hands-on experience and exposure to:

• NCC’s 10,000-square-foot machine shop 
• Workplace safety and career pathways
• Basic hand tool use
• Manual and CNC production equipment
• Online training modules through Tooling-U/SME
• Tours of local manufacturing facilities
• The opportunity to earn the industry-recognized Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) credential from Tooling-U/SME

With its new pre-apprenticeship designation, STEP provides students with an even stronger pathway to explore STEM and manufacturing careers while gaining valuable skills and industry-recognized credentials.
