Library Update: BPL will be OPEN on Monday, October 12.

Public Service Announcement: Temporary Parking Changes

McMahon Wintonbury Library is open! The parking lot is currently closed for exterior renovations and is expected to remain closed until sometime in the fall. Patrons may park at the Blue Hills Fire Department lot across the street during this time. We thank the Blue Hills Fire Department for their generosity and partnership as we complete this final phase of the project.

The Prosser Library parking garage is temporarily closed to vehicle and foot traffic. An oversized vehicle damaged the parking garage ceiling, and Public Works is working on repairs. At this time, we do not know when access to the parking garage will be restored. Handicap-accessible parking is available in front of Prosser Library along Tunxis Avenue, as well as in designated spots in the parking lot at the base of the bridge.

Join BPL in Raising Awareness of Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. For years, our partners at Interval House Hartford have helped educate our community by providing resources and ways we can help empower victims and survivors. And this issue hits close to home. Of the 24 CT towns Interval House serves, Bloomfield has consistently ranked in the top five for domestic violence cases.

So, what can we do? Here are just a few ways you can educate yourself and others, help those in need of resources, and spread awareness:

Attend or tell someone about these upcoming BPL programs:

Tear off the phone number taped to our restroom doors and give it to someone who might need it. 24-Hour Hotline: 860-838-8467 (English) | 844-831-9200 (Spanish)

Follow the steps below on Purple Thursday, October 15, 2026. We'll be taking our annual photo at Prosser Library at 4:45 pm, and we invite you to wear purple and join us.
