Dear Y'All Saints,
Our next Sunday Night Live is this Sunday, and we have been invited to join in a special presentation of Out of Hand Theater's one-man play,
Conceal and Carry,
which will take place at All Saints' that night in the Ross Room at 6:15 p.m. The Attic will be open early, with pizza being served from 5:45 p.m. We will walk over to the performance together at 6:10 p.m.
Pickup will be at 8:05 p.m. in the Attic.
The play is performed by Lee Osorio and directed by Ariel Fristoe
— both members All Saints' — and centers around the father of a school shooting victim as he deals with his grief and anger.
Parent and Youth Advisory: Heavy Content and Strong Language
Ariel and Lee have suggested that this performance is both appropriate and relevant for middle and high schoolers. School shootings are a dark reality that our nation continues to grapple with, one that most directly affects our youth.
Nevertheless, it is a weighty performance, with harsh language and content that may be especially unsettling for some, especially younger youth. Please exercise discretion and caution. And, as you consider this opportunity, please know:
- Parents are welcome to attend with us.
- It is perfectly acceptable to leave the room at anytime. We'll have designated adults available to sit and talk with those who may need to take a break.
- There will be a time of conversation and debriefing built into our time so that we can process what we have seen together.
My hope for All Saints' is that we can offer a sanctuary for youth to celebrate, explore, and reflect on the full breadth of human experience. Often that centers around community building and play. Sometimes, as is the case this Sunday, we will create a safe space to journey deeper into difficult issues together, trusting that God is with us.
