LEADERSHIP

Battle for Old Baldy

The 2025 Battle for Old Baldy was a perfect day on the course, with great weather, competitive play, and plenty of camaraderie. BHI Club members delivered a memorable competition under the Stableford format.

In the Women’s Division, BHA Board President Christine Osborne took first place, followed by Deb Geraghty in second and Lisa Norton in third. In the Men’s Division, Adam Sperry claimed first, Lou Meyer came in second, and Walter McNairy finished third.

Congratulations to Christine, all the champions, and every participant for making the day a success!

Help Shape BHA’s Future Leadership

The Nominating Committee plays a vital role in finding qualified candidates to run for future BHA Board positions, ensuring strong leadership for years to come. Per BHA Bylaws, the committee includes a Board-appointed Chairperson and four Association members not currently serving on the Board. We’re looking for volunteers to join this important team. If you have a passion for our community and an eye for leadership potential, reach out to Steve Smalley and consider serving.

The next Board meeting is 8/22/25 at 8:30 a.m. in BHA's Association Center (111 Lighthouse Wynd) or via the Zoom link. The agenda will be posted on the website when available.

Hurricane Season Alert

We're coming into the height of hurricane season which runs through November, and NOAA predicts an 60% chance of above-normal activity this year. Property owners, especially with active job sites, should secure all loose materials and have a written hurricane plan with contractors. After any storm, address hazards first, document damage with photos, and check ARC guidelines before making repairs. Check out our resource page.

Village Announcement

The National Weather Service predicts Hurricane Erin will turn north mid-week, staying offshore of the Carolinas. While no damaging winds or rain are expected, strong swells will create dangerous surf and rip currents along the coast.

The Village of Bald Head Island Department of Public Safety has issued a no swimming advisory from today (Tuesday, August 19) through Friday, August 22. Conditions are expected to improve before the weekend; updates will be provided if needed. Full announcement here.

Ferry Schedule

The Summer Passenger Ferry schedule was adjusted to change the current Friday and Saturday 9:30 p.m. departure from Bald Head Island (BHI) to 10:00 p.m. This change does not affect any other Summer Passenger Ferry schedule departures, the Employee / Contractor Ferry schedule, nor the Winter Passenger Ferry schedule. The NCUC order and updated schedule are available here.
