Dear Friends,

Fall is here, and there’s a lot happening at Loudoun Hunger Relief! Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout Hunger Action Month—your support and advocacy help shine a light on food insecurity in our community. Hunger Action Month officially continues through the end of September, but every month is Hunger Action Month at LHR. Thank you for taking action against hunger in our community all year round.

Looking forward to October, we're excited to partner with Milltown Haunt as their "Power of A Scare" recipient. Bring a non-perishable food donation October 17–19 to Milltown Haunt and receive discounts on tickets or merchandise.

Jumping to November, our annual Thanksgiving Dinner Bag drive is underway, and bags are due to LHR by November 12. Click here for all the info on how to build and donate a dinner bag for a family in need. The annual Freeze Your Gizzard 5K is coming up on November 22! Thank you to our Freeze Your Gizzard sponsors, whose generosity makes this community tradition possible. Register for the race here!

Finally, a reminder: early voting is underway at the Office of Elections in Leesburg, which shares our parking lot. Please drive with extra care and patience when visiting us or dropping off food donations.

Scare Away Hunger at Milltown Haunt!

This season, Loudoun Hunger Relief is proud to be the "Power of A Scare" beneficiary at Milltown Haunt. From October 17–19, guests can bring a non-perishable food donation to benefit LHR.

Each donation earns a discount on tickets or merchandise—so you can enjoy the scares while helping local families put food on the table.

We Need Canned Vegetables!

This month, we are in need of canned vegetables! Just one can of green beans, corn, or tomatoes can help create a meal for a neighbor. Click here to learn more about donating to LHR.

Keep an eye on our social media, every Wednesday we post what is most needed in the pantry!

Thank you, Loudoun Empty Bowls!

On September 11th, we were honored to be one of the beneficiaries of Loudoun Empty Bowls alongside Dulles South Food Pantry and Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter (LAWS). This gorgeous annual event has raised more than $500,000 to help the hungry in our community over the last 12 years. Way to go, Loudoun Empty Bowls!

Pack a Thanksgiving Bag!

It's that time of year! If you are interested in donating a Thanksgiving Dinner Bag, check out our website for more information. Bags are due by November 12!

Did you know that you can support Loudoun Hunger Relief through a gift from your donor advised fund? DAF Day is October 9, but any day is a good day to learn more about donor advised funds!

A donor advised fund allows donors to contribute a larger amount of money all at once to a fund held at a foundation and receive any tax benefit in a single year, but gift the money out over time to the nonprofits of their choice.
