A Year of Great Success

Our powerhouse Legislative Advocate and Lobbyist Faith Borges was hard at work in 2023 advocating for CAHIP Members.

In the last election cycle, 98% (yes! 98%) of the candidates CAHIP supported were elected!

Below is a list of some of the many accomplishments achieved this year.

CAHIP Supported Bills Become Laws

Governor Newsom signed AB 716 the Ground Ambulance Bill into law effective January 1, 2024. This law bans ground ambulance operators from balance billing patients.

This was a huge win for CAHIP as we were a major proponent of this bill and worked hard to make our voice heard.

CAHIP also supported these other bills that were signed into law:

  • AB 242 - Keeps hiring decisions in the hands of managing physicians, so they can meet the needs of the community they serve. AB 242 supports CAHs and improves access to care in rural and often underserved areas.
  • AB 451 - Requires the CA insurance license exam to be provided in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean (1/24) and Tagalog (7/24).
  • AB 1241- Ensures Medi-Cal patients retain the ability to receive services through telehealth.

Thank you to our members and our lobbyist for your hard work to help get these bills passed.
