Play / Ted Lasso/ Class Fees | |
I've been taking online classes and am shocked and disappointed by the void.
Forget that the content isn't interesting or backed by research, I am moving at a snails pace and reading assignments I could find on my own. I keep asking is it generated by AI, is the narrator real?
Price was right but what a waste, I'll match a decent comparison.
IF you or someone you love is doing this, stop.

The Secret is always Play:
establishes discipline and heals DNA!
Play will get you through the final stretch for a couple of weeks and for your best summer!. It’s not just fun—play increases engagement, improves behavior and learning, builds relationships, and brings real joy back into the classroom. An added bonus? One of the top three goals teachers have for summer is to get some adventure or a trip—so why not start the theme now?
You are the power source! You now have the power to bring energy into your classroom and carry it into your summer. they are easy to please when it comes to play. Think toss and catch, think of making a target, a winner and a loser are always popular! Think about what you used to play and love so much you forgot time and food (and the bathroom). For easy strategies and science-backed ideas, get access to the free Audible or check out my book "Moving is Magical" or take the online course "Fitness and the Brain"—both packed with tools that show how movement fuels learning, attitude, focus, and your MOOD. Email me and I'll send a code for a free Audible. Why do you care? More play improves behavior, and regrows DNA and that repairs stress and repairs aging.

Ted Lasso or Walter White?
Play, Heart, and Character
| | |
I consider these two series to be my No.1 and No.2 best I've ever seen. You may be surprised to hear which I choose, but that's not my point.
My question is if there was one more season of Breaking Bad (Holy Cow that would be great) would Walt ever have anything to do with teaching again? Consider that there are only a few weeks left, you are getting ready to plan your "adventure" for your time off, what would Walt do?
Is it more feasible to think Ted Lasso? I am re-watching to prepare for one more season of Ted Lasso (Holy Cow WOW, I didn't BELIEVE) you have a few weeks left, you're planning your summer events, what would Ted do
Those of you who know me, know that I am a better person for watching Ted Lasso. His philosophy, ability to see the power of relationships and USE THEM TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE have moved me toward being a better version of myself.

It might seem like a silly goal for our academic rigor but to me it is key. Let me remind you of play—especially at this time in our lives and country--because it will connect people, increase our energy, and boost learning. While I may believe all roads lead to Ted, there’s a reason: his entire coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief of forgetting hurtful things quickly, second chances as often as possible, and forgiveness—especially of ourselves. I don't think it is fiction! I think Ted Lasso allows us to visualize a community where bullies can rehabilitate into thoughtful and kind people!
Here’s the Ted takeaway:
Use play to reset from neutral or negative to positive, and to get back onto the path we dream about. Give second chances grow, connect, and become your best self—not just at school, but in life. And isn’t that what great teaching and a great life is all about?
I choose Breaking Bad as the greatest I have ever seen, but no question, I am a Ted Lasso fan, but they come in 2nd.

| | On-Demand, Online Courses | |
- Every single slide features research to support and I narrate to explain all of the evidence to support the strategies.
- Every class topic is designed to enhance relationships in class, at work and home. I didn't mean to create classes that directly impact YOUR personal quality of life, but years of feedback from clients shocked me.
- Classes are video based, not reading additional material with worksheets
- Chose additional application hours: you'll get many ideas for activities (for example, something you have never done and explain how you can use it with students). Individualized class coursework allows you to meet your "summer goals" while building plans and activities for next year.

Hollywood and the Brain: Using games and movies increases learning time exponentially! What if educators and parents steal the premise to motivate and educate using the games and movies they are already consuming. One teacher integrated and found 100% of his males hit grade level in literacy.
In the Zone: A few nights ago, the Celtics missed missed 45 3-pointers. "They just don't have the talent." FALSE
They failed to perform under pressure. You will learn what triggers "choke" in the brain and the ways to protect so that you and your students get it right when it matters.
Fitness and the Brain: Increased physical activity allows for the brain to pay attention, learn faster, and think under less than optimal circumstances. They don't have to be fit, but you have to integrate moves to your class AND have the evidence to support.
Homework and the Brain: Research used to support 10 minutes per grade level is fabricated. Harris Cooper found no such correlation. Want to learn the problems traditional homework causes? I hope so, and I'll offer 10 things that actually do offer benefit.
Synchronicity: Bring Balance Back This is by far the favorite class (that feedback is when it is offered in-person). You will learn 6 daily rituals that will add time back into your life, while increasing your efficiency.
Memory and the Brain (New, Includes incredible learning tricks that will boost you immediately) The concepts, foods, activities, and more are so highly effective you have to see it to believe it. In every class, we measure the amount of improvement, and it has NEVER been less than a 50% increase. I guarantee this.

Music and the Brain: Effects of playing or listening on neural pathways in the brain (the same neurons as language)
Motivation:3 secrets for males and females (class is not on gender) on life long differences and the effects on relationships, how to drive learning, and mental health.
Males and Female Differences, the Brain (aka Gender and the Brain) Once you understand the behavioral choices, you can modify for greatest impact. Small changes can close the literacy, grade, and behavior gap.
Essentials for Learning: Straight forward biology about how our daily life impacts the brain and more than 30 methods to enhance health and learning.
Willpower and the Brain: Incredible science that shows how tiny changes can increase our self-discipline and help meet our goals now and dictate future success.
Top Ten Things (only one credit but you get so many good topics): You will get the intro to a variety of science inspired behaviors that can change your life right away. Listening to a song, focusing on the exhale, standing on one foot, and more ideas that will reset you.
Relationships and the Brain: What happens when students perceive their teacher as support is nothing short of magic. If a student goes more than 2 years without feeling "connected" to a teacher, the chance of failure to graduate more than quadruple. Learn what happens in your brain and strategies to support.
