Last month, we were able to help a single mother of two young boys provide a special birthday for her son. Struggling financially, the mother shared that she couldn't afford much this year, though, like most mothers, she desperately wanted her son to feel celebrated on this birthday. She said,
"My son was so grateful when he saw all of his favorite figures on these decorations as I set them up. He wished he could thank everyone personally (his own words). It was great to have everyone celebrate him and have him feel so special. Birthday Dreams has made my son's birthday so magical."
With your continued support, we are committed to bringing hope and joy to the community we serve through the gift of a birthday celebration.

Junior League of Seattle
This is truly a dream partnership for the Community Events team, and we are incredibly grateful for their support. We can’t say enough about how great they are, but we’ll try. Our contacts at Junior League of Seattle, Tamara and Gretchen, care and understand our mission. They are always ready to work with us on our current needs. This month they led a fantastic group who made party hats. The creativity and artistry that went into each hat were truly impressive. Thank you so much!

Hallock Family
Thank you so much to the Hallock Family for their continued support of Birthday Dreams. This week they spent time together making friendship bracelet kits. These kits are wearable crafts for kids who attend the parties we support. Each child receives a kit to make a friendship bracelet that they get to take home. We are grateful to the Hallock Family for helping us create memorable events.

Girl Scouts Troop 40001
The members of Troop 40001 donated time to Birthday Dreams sorting and counting candy. We appreciate their hard work making our job a little easier. This candy will be sent out in birthday party goody bags, and to upcoming parties and events. When asked what she likes about helping Birthday Dreams, one scout said, "I really liked the project because it involved candy and it made me feel good to help with someone's birthday."

T-Mobile
We are grateful for our continued partnership with T-Mobile. Sarah Anderson, Sr. Fraud Analyst, Business Strategy–Finance, set a goal to create a memorable experience for their Fraud and Risk Management team while giving back to the community. We were honored that she chose Birthday Dreams as the nonprofit to support. They generously donated both the supplies and their time to assemble 500 goody bags for children we serve. Working together, they completed the bags in record time, helping ensure many birthday celebrations will be extra special.

Bonney Lake Cub Scouts Pack 504
In February, Bonney Lake Cub Scouts Pack 504 held their Blue and Gold Ceremony. As part of the event the Scouts, and their families, put together 100 birthday party bags to donate to Birthday Dreams. A parent of one of the Scouts said, “Our group was excited to do a service project kids could easily relate to and that aligns with the values of Scouts - being stewards of the community and doing unto others as you would want done unto you.”
| | |
Girl Scouts 46090
This amazing troop held a service meeting where they assembled over 90 goody bags for the children we support. The scouts also purchased the supplies themselves, demonstrating the leadership, generosity, and commitment to helping others that are at the heart of Girl Scout values. Thank you for supporting Birthday Dreams and helping bring joy to children in need.

Ella Baker Elementary
Thank you to the students and families of Ella Baker Elementary in Redmond. For several years they have hosted an evening of service called Envision a Kinder World, bringing families together to support local nonprofits. This year, participants assembled more than 100 goody bags for Birthday Dreams. These bags are an important part of the Birthday in a Box we send out to help make each child’s celebration special. We are grateful for their kindness and support.
| |
Medina Elementary
Every year, Medina Elementary hosts two Days of Service, and we were fortunate to be selected for the February event. More than 40 students attended the after-school service project, where they worked together to assemble goody bags and decorate birthday party hats for the children we serve. We are grateful for their enthusiasm and kindness in helping make birthdays feel special.
| | |
Kentridge Girls Honor
Thank you to Amanda Tseng for setting aside time during a Kentridge Girls Honor meeting for students to create birthday party hats. Each hat was thoughtfully decorated and will soon be included in a birthday celebration for one of the children we serve. The Girls Honor Motto, Empowering Women and Improving our Community, was clearly reflected in their kindness and creativity. We are grateful for their support in helping make birthdays feel special.

Click here to donate. | | Volunteer Spotlight | Jen Falli | | Empty nester Jen Falli loves to bake, but she and her husband strive to eat healthy, so baking all of the time without someone to bake for is just too tempting. Jen also enjoys giving back. She volunteers weekly at an equine rescue as a barn manager and with King County Animal Control helping rescue, rehab and rehome horses. So when a good friend asked her last June if she would be interested in baking cakes for Birthday Dreams, she couldn't say yes fast enough. Birthday Dreams Operations Director Jordan Martinez said, "Jen has been a God send, jumping in to help and make gorgeous cakes for the kids we serve." Three of her recent cakes are featured in the Awesome Cakes section of this newsletter. | | | |
Jen said, "I love being able to use my baking skills to bring joy to children and families enduring a trying season of life. I'm thrilled to bake for any party, but I especially love baking for any family in a DV shelter-- I survived an abusive ex years ago and I understand all too well how impossible it can feel. I welcome any opportunity to bring joy in the midst of such a stressful time."
To those considering getting involved with Birthday Dreams she said, "If you're looking for a way to spread a little cheer all year long, please join us. If you love to bake but aren't sure if you're up to the task, that's okay. I started in the same place, and there are a lot of resources out there to help-- you can learn almost anything on YouTube!"
Jen lives in Sammamish with her husband, who she describes as "wonderful." We agree! He is also involved with Birthday Dreams. Jen bakes the cakes and her husband delivers them to our office. Jen works full time for Children's Hospital. When she is not making cakes or working in the barn, Jen enjoys boxing, lifting weights and crocheting blankets and hats.
Our thanks to the Falli's for the amazing support.
| | Kids Helping Kids | Shorewood Cheer | | |
Carley Mallow, a parent of a Shorewood Highschool Cheerleader has been organizing Birthday Dreams events for the Shorewood Cheer Squad for the past year.
Most recently, the squad held a "teddy bear toss" at a basketball game; fans were invited to bring stuffed animals they could toss onto the court for the cheer squad to collect. The event was a huge hit; 217 stuffed animals were collected and since donated to Seattle Children's Hospital, Edmonds Police for their DV unit and, you guessed it, Birthday Dreams.
| | | |
The squad has also made friendship bracelet kits and party hats for Birthday Dreams. Their contributions have been featured in previous newsletters; and this month we thought it would be nice to hear from some of the cheerleaders themselves. Here's what they had to say:
"I like being involved with Birthday Dreams because every child should be able to have a birthday party. To me, giving back means helping in ways that you're able to , whether it's by doing something small or big. It means showing up for people and causes and putting others before yourself." Kennedy
"It is extremely important to me to be a part of sharing the gift of kindness and thoughtfulness in a way that feels contagious. My hope is that [Birthday Dreams] kids are able to celebrate the blessing of life and continue to carry a child-like wonder that will one day make a difference in others' lives." Fran
Our thanks to the Shorewood Cheer Squad for their support.

At Birthday Dreams, we believe that every child deserves to feel special on their birthday. We work tirelessly to bring hope, joy, and a sense of self-worth to homeless children with the gift of a birthday party. We understand that a birthday party may seem like a small gesture, but to these children, it means the world.
Our parties are more than just cake and presents. They are a celebration of life, of resilience, and of the human spirit. They are a reminder that no child is forgotten, and that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and loved.
Thank you to all our donors and volunteers who bring so much joy to the children we serve.
