Attention: Intrepid Postcard Writers and those of you who might want to join the ranks! From Katy Hickman, our Reclaim Our Vote contact:

⭐TEXAS⭐

We now have Texas to add to our North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia campaigns. I have added the script here for your perusal. Again you will see how tailored it is to the concerns of local constituents. Let's show up for our Lone Star State neighbors!

Help us STOCKPILE NOW for October:

I know many of you are churning out beautiful cards, and yay! But if you haven't yet and are thinking, "well, they don't have to be mailed until October, I'll probably get to it," If this is you, let me help you get started again. I encourage you to join us now in making stacks of cards that we can mail with our first pumpkin spice latte.

👉To sign up for an NCJW sponsored postcarding event, or to get a stack of postcards to work on at home please contact Deb Lelchuk at advocacy@ncjwlongbeach.org or call 657-235-2511.

Jewish California - The Final Stretch Webinar

With the Legislature entering its final month and the Governor about to decide the fate of our top priorities, this is the moment our advocacy matters most. Join Jewish California CEO David Bocarsly and lobbyist Cliff Berg for a live briefing on the budget wins we've already secured, the bills still in play, and exactly how you can help us close strong before session ends.

We'll cover concrete ways to make your voice heard in these critical final weeks. Bring your questions – we'll leave time for live Q&A.

Jewish California -

Keep Hate out of Voter Pamphlets

Why it matters: Earlier this year, California's Official Voter Information Guide for the June 2026 Primary was mailed to 23 million registered voters. Tucked inside that state-issued document was a candidate statement containing antisemitic conspiracy theories, white nationalist rhetoric, and links to websites filled with racist, homophobic, and other hateful content.

When content like this is distributed under the authority of the State of California to 23 million households, it carries an implicit approval of the state itself. That is dangerous. AB 1853 needs to clear Senate Appropriations by August 14 – its next test before the Senate floor. Tell the Senate Appropriations Committee to pass this bill, along with other Jewish California priority bills.

CLUE - Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice, Support for Immigrants

Members of our NCJW Advocacy Committee have become involved with CLUE, (Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice), to help support vulnerable immigrant families in our community. There are several ways you can help out:

Click HERE to Donate to the Detained Immigrant Bond Fund. Help keep families together and secure the release of detained community members from immigration detention.

Click HERE to join a weekly prayer vigil in either Downtown Los Angeles or Santa Ana. Faith leaders come together in song and prayer to make visible the suffering of families ripped apart by ICE.

Shakara Panel Discussion -

What’s Next for Peace,

Tuesday, August 4, 6:30 PM,

Alpert JCC

Sharaka (’Partnership’ in Arabic) is working to shape a new Middle East, built on dialogue, understanding, cooperation and friendship. Following the historic signing of the Abraham Accords in September of 2020, youth leaders from Israel and the Gulf came together to meet and explore each other’s countries and cultures. Sharaka was born out of this mutual exchange of visits.

The goal was as simple as it was ambitious: to translate the governmental agreements to the popular level. Sharaka is unique in that it includes Israelis and Arabs, Jews, Muslims, and Christians from around the Middle East, working together in partnership. For one day only, Sharaka is returning to the J for a special moderated conversation. Panel discussion is presented by Jewish Long Beach, Beach Hillel, and Shakara. Free to attend. Advanced registration required - no walk-ins will be permitted.

The Secret War Against Hate: Dr. Steven J. Ross

Thursday, September 10, 7:00 PM,

Alpert JCC

Presented by CSULB Jewish Studies Program and Jewish Long Beach. Dr. Steven J. Ross was a Pulitzer Prize Finalist for his previous book, ‘Hitler in Los Angeles’. In this lecture, he will discuss his latest book about the resurgence of white supremacy and antisemitism in America after World War II, leading to attacks on Jews and African Americans, and the formation of networks of terrorists across the US. In response, a group of Jewish and non-Jewish activists infiltrated, monitored, and undermined these hate groups, putting their safety on the line and scoring important victories that today have all but been forgotten.
