We're thrilled to announce the Ball & Skein Free Fiber Library...The Fibrary!
If you've passed by the shop in the past few days, you may have noticed something new and beautiful in front of the shop. Caitlin and Rae have been planning and building the Ball & Skein Free Fiber Library since June.
Here's a bit more about the origin story of the Fibrary...
Over the past year we received many questions from long time customers about what had happened to our beloved yarn tree. It was sadly removed due to trimming costs. Because of this, Cailtin & Rae got to work brainstorming another way for Ball & Skein to involve the Cambrian community and to draw in new people to the store. And so, the idea of the Free Fiber Library was born!
You may be familiar with the concept of Free Little Libraries from seeing them in your neighborhoods. The general idea of our Fiber Library (aka Fibrary) is to provide a place for new crafters to come and get inspiration, tools, and fiber to experiment with. It’s also a great place for those of us who have a little “too much stash” to pass on yarn or other tools or patterns to others. Rae picked out the color scheme and added the flower motifs, while her husband Colin created the shingles and built the roof. Caitlin secured the library into its planter box base and planted the beautiful Nasturtiums.
We are so happy with how the Fiber Library has turned out and have all greatly enjoyed the engagement it has already fostered.
