A Message from the President

President Jim Morton

As we enter this season of gratitude, I am reminded of how much we have to celebrate at Cape Fear Community College. This year has seen substantial enrollment growth, driven by the expansion of our programs, facilities, and increased opportunities for our students and community.

I am especially proud of the enhanced community services we continue to provide. Our dental clinic, barbering and cosmetology services, aesthetics, nail technology, and dog grooming programs are thriving, giving students valuable hands-on training while meeting real needs across our region. These efforts directly affect our mission to provide education that directly supports and uplifts our community.

We are also deeply grateful for the support of our many business, industry, and educational partners. Through apprenticeships, advisory boards, shared expertise, and transfer pathways with institutions such as Arizona State University and Campbell University, their collaboration ensures that our programs remain aligned with workforce needs, giving our students the confidence to step into rewarding careers.

Thank you to our dedicated faculty and staff, our students, and all who champion CFCC's work. I wish you a wonderful November and a joyful Thanksgiving season.

Jim Morton

In Case You Missed It

CFCC and Campbell University have signed a new articulation agreement, establishing the Campbell Assured Admission Program, which provides CFCC students with a direct pathway to transfer. Eligible AA and AS graduates will receive dedicated advising and services to help ensure a smooth transition to Campbell.

CFCC's Community Relations team has been honored with five prestigious Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations for excellence in marketing and communications. These awards highlight achievements across social media, video, outdoor advertising, and storytelling.

Leanne Morgan's new Netflix special Unspeakable Things, filmed over four sold-out shows at CFCC's Wilson Center, soared to the #1 spot on Netflix. This milestone shines a spotlight on our campus' venue as a premier destination for major productions.

CFCC is hosting two upcoming Career Discover Nights: K-12 Teacher Preparation on December 2 and Chemical Technology on December 4, both from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on the downtown campus. Attendees can explore each program, meet faculty, and learn about career opportunities.

Apprenticeship Spotlights

Avery's Automotive has partnered with CFCC as a new apprenticeship provider in the Automotive Systems Technology program, providing students with real-world, hands-on experience while they study. The collaboration is underway and already benefiting first-year student Cooper McDonald, who began applying his classroom learning in the shop right away.

Students from Pender High School recently toured the shop at family-owned Fairway Ford Inc. through a dual-enrollment program with CFCC, getting hands-on exposure to the high-demand automotive field. The visit highlights the college's Automotive Mechanics pathway, which offers juniors and seniors a tuition-free head start on earning credentials and entering the workforce.

Featured Sea Devils

Eman Mohammed, Heidi Samaneigo-Mariscal, and Joseph Grasso each found a true sense of community at the CFCC Veterans Center after transitioning into civilian life as students. Through support, friendship, and shared purpose, they discovered a place where they belong while pursuing their academic goals.

CCP student Miles Moore credits CFCC's vibrant music scene with helping him grow as an artist and gain confidence as a performer. Through ensembles, mentorship, and live performance opportunities, he's built a strong creative foundation to carry into his future pursuits.
