Lourdes Letter from Principal Young

Dear OLOL Families
Every October the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce accepts nominations for the Golden Apples Awards. This award is for teachers that go above and beyond what is expected in helping their students achieve student success. We have several OLOL teachers here that do that every single day. In order for them to be recognized, it starts with them being nominated. Please take a few moments to complete this nomination form. These teachers need to be recognized for their commitment to our students and school.
You may not know but OLOL is an accredited school through the Wisconsin Independent and Religious Schools Association (WRISA). Every 6 six years an accreditation team comes for a three day visit to verify what we report every year to renew our accreditation. This year we are being visited by the Accreditation Team on Monday, October 20th - Wednesday, October 22nd. One of their tasks that might impact you is that the team is given a list of every parent at the school. You may be called by a team member and asked questions about the school. I ask that you give honest feedback about our school as this visit is designed for us to improve.
I hope you have seen the email about parent-teacher conferences last Friday. Parent-teacher conferences are Tuesday, October 28th and Thursday, October 30th. We would like 100% participation as this is a great opportunity for all of us to work together to bring out the best in our students, teachers, and families. I would really like to have all new families sign up for a slot with me if you can fit it in your schedule. Part of the mission of OLOL is that we are consistently looking for improvement of students, staff, and administration. That begins with honest and open dialogue with each other. We hope to see you all in a couple of weeks.
One thing that I‘m sure will be discussed is math. We are using a new curriculum resource this year called Into Math. Transitioning to new resources is a challenge to both students and teachers. One struggle that we are seeing is translating the tasks students are asked to do and how to assess it into a grade in Powerschool, particularly in 3rd - 8th grade. The teachers at this grade level are seeing lower grades for their students. I ask that you don’t get overly concerned about your child’s math grade at this time. We are just 6 weeks into a new resource and we are getting familiar with it just like the students. We will get to a desired result in time.

Thank You for sharing your time and talents with our school.
NEW
'Track it Forward"
How to enter and track your TSF Hours
| | | |
We have made tracking your volunteer hours much simpler while also providing anytime access to the hours you have already logged. Track It Forward (TIF) is the new intuitive and easy-to-use online platform for tracking all your OLOL volunteer hours – TSF, Light Up Lourdes, and Athletics.
Step 1: Option B (refer to instructions below)
As TSF hours are measured by the household, each household has one account under
the mother’s email address which also acts as the TIF account username. If a child
lives in multiple homes, both parents have accounts using their email addresses
provided to OLOL.
For those of you who have already submitted hours with our Google Form from the website or school newsletter, those hours have been added into your TIF account already, so once you create a password and access your account via the app or the web, you’ll see your logged hours already captured.
For instructions on how to set up your TIF account, please see below. Once in the program, logging your hours is very straightforward, but if you have any questions about the program, please contact Megan Lehmann at Megan.Lehmann05@gmail.com or call/text 920-362-2322.
