CMPA Changes
As a result of a new increase to CMPA fees for 2027, more physicians will be eligible next year for the CMPA rebate program offered by Doctors Manitoba.
What it means for you: Doctors Manitoba provides a rebate for 100% of the remaining amount after physicians pay the first $1,000 of their CMPA dues/liability coverage.
- With this new increase, the majority of specialties will have a rate that sits above the $1,000 fee threshold and will thus qualify for the rebate.
Of note: Those who are eligible due to the 2027 increase will be able to claim their rebate the following year.
Questions? If you have any questions about your eligibility, please contact our office at Benefits@DoctorsManitoba.ca.

Billing Corner: Virtual Care
When offering virtual visits in practice, physicians must ensure they meet regulatory standards from CPSM and tariff requirements outlined in Manitoba Health’s Physician’s Manual.
Carefully consider how standards and billing requirements apply to your practice:
- Both CPSM and Manitoba Health require the physician and patient to be located in Manitoba for virtual visits, with very few exceptions.
- Depending on the episodic or continuing nature of the patient-physician relationship, different tariffs are available.
- As virtual care continues to evolve, it remains important for physicians to stay familiar with the billing rules, eligibility requirements, and appropriate use of each tariff to ensure claims are submitted accurately and efficiently.
Review our updated billing advice on virtual care.
This is part of our Back-to-School Billing Refresher. Manitoba Health is increasing its scrutiny on claims in several areas. We’ve been monitoring the trends and have updated resources to ensure your claims align with billing requirements.

Pneu-C-20 Eligibility Expanded for Manitoba Seniors
Patients 65+ who previously received Pneu-P-23 can now get 1 dose of Pneu-C-20, as long as it’s been at least 5 years since that dose. Patients who already received Pneu-C-20 aren’t eligible for another.
📬 Heads up: The province is mailing reminder letters this month to patients who recently turned 65.

World Mental Health Day: Caring for Those Who Care
Saturday, October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that caring for mental health, both your patients’ and your own, is essential.
Why it matters: Physicians carry the weight of their patients’ struggles alongside their own. Distressing events and daily pressures don’t stay at the office door.
- They follow you into clinics, homes, and workplaces, affecting colleagues and patients both directly and indirectly.
- Physicians, medical learners, and their families are not immune to stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges.
