STAFF SPEAKING

Here is a note from the CEO, Christie Ray:

"Have you ever thought about volunteering with the Chamber?  It's a great way to build relationships in the business community.  There are many ways to get involved, and we're always happy to work within a volunteer's availability.  Currently we're looking for committee members to be part of a temporary Membership Task Force, focused on  the creation of a Member Engagement and Mentoring Plan.  We'd love to have the help and different perspectives on this project.  Please contact me with any questions or to sign up for the first project meeting."

PINE VALLEY GOLF CENTRE

The Cosmic Golf Tournament is a fantastic opportunity for you to entertain clients and friends, as well as promote your business through networking and sponsorship/donation recognition. Get together a group of your staff and make it a day of team building on the course, or take on a business competitor in this year's corporate challenge.

This year we will be "Raising the Bar" with a number of tasty food and drink bars to tempt you as you tee off. There will be a hotdog bar with all the fixings to create your custom-made, gourmet frankfurter. Those looking for a lighter option can visit the fresh salad bar. Finally, you can reward yourself for having a good game at the ice cream bar, complete with all your favourite toppings! Of course, there will also be a traditional beverage bar where we will be offering a variety of drinks.

GRANTS TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY EVENTS

The Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development has allocated $250,000 towards a one-time funding opportunity to encourage community events that strengthen volunteer capacity for event hosting throughout the province.

Eligible non-profit organizations are invited to apply for up to $5,000. Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis and distributed throughout B.C.'s six tourism regions.

This initiative will provide a stimulus for new events and will assist existing events that are currently ineligible for other provincial government funding.

TECHNOLOGY@WORK PROGRAM

The Technology@Work Program is designed to support employment for people with disabilities in all regions of British Columbia who require Assistive Technology to overcome disability-related barriers in the workplace.

This program will help individuals who are already employed, self-employed, or volunteering, as well as those who are about to start a new work or volunteer opportunity.

When Assistive Technology is the sole barrier to employment or volunteerism, Technology@Work will help determine and acquire the Assistive Technology that will meet the needs of the individual, the employer, and the work situation.

Do you currently have an employee or volunteer that would benefit from this program?

Client Eligibility:

  • Have a disability.
  • Are a resident of British Columbia.
  • Are legally entitled to work in British Columbia.
  • Are employed, self-employed or volunteering.
  • Are 16 years of age or older.
  • Have a disability related barrier in the workplace or travelling to the workplace, which can be addressed with Assistive Technology
The Technology@Work also provides support for employers who are interested in creating a more accessible work environment for their employees.
