SouthStar is an opportunity to integrate fast-moving technologies into open-source solutions that are scalable and interoperable, using novel deployment models to maximize impact.

Enabling Technologies: Power Electronics, IoT, Pay-Go, LEDs, motor drives, automation, communications, digital devices, fintech, AI.

Empower a Billion Lives is a global competition that fosters innovative technical and commercial solutions to address energy poverty. The SouthStar teams with awarded proposals will receive Prize money to further develop their solutions for validation in the field by EBL local entrepreneurs.

There will be follow-on webinars to assist all Teams in the competition!

Publication of research findings may be considered for an IEEE PELS Special Issue Journal.
