WARNING: Someone is using my name and company name in phishing emails!
In three earlier issues of my newsletter, I've told you about scam emails targeting musicians. Some emails target music teachers. Others say they are giving away a free piano or harp. These are all phishing emails to steal your money.
I just received an email from a harpist saying that he received one of these emails with my name on it!
The email was from: Sylvia Woods - freemantravels333@gmail.com (which is NOT my email)
Subject: Mrs. Mary is giving out her late father's Piano to a lovely home
The first paragraph said:
The Sylvia Woods Harp Center is pleased to share this community request on behalf of Mrs. Mary, who is seeking a suitable and caring new home for her late father’s 2020 grand piano.
After a few more paragraphs, the email is signed:
Sylvia Woods
Owner and founder
Sylvia Woods Harp Center
This has nothing to do with me and is obviously a scam to steal your money. If you get this email, or a similar one with my name on it, DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS OR REPLY.
Please check out these previous newsletters for more information about phishing scams targeting musicians.
