Jon and Ginger
on a Fall Hike
This painting of Ginger and Jon on a hike during autumn would be a fantastic project for you for several reasons. First off, the painting is rich in color and texture, capturing the essence of the fall season. The leaves on the trees and the ground are a mix of warm oranges, yellows, and reds, which are super fun to paint with acrylics. Plus, the way the light filters through the trees creates a magical, almost dreamy atmosphere. It's a great opportunity to learn about how to create depth and mood in a painting.
Secondly, the painting features two figures—Ginger and Jon—each doing something different. Jon is carrying a backpack and has a single walking stick, and Ginger is walking with walking sticks. This adds a dynamic element to the painting and offers a chance to practice figure painting, which can be a bit challenging but also really rewarding. Overall, this painting offers a balanced mix of landscape and figure painting, making it an excellent learning experience for both beginners and more experienced students.
Painted on a 9x12 canvas, this 2-Cookie lesson is available for free on YouTube.

The Road Less Traveled
In the “Road Less Traveled” the colors are just amazing! Autumn is like nature's grand finale, and this painting captures that with its vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows. Learning to mix and apply these colors would be a great exercise in understanding color theory and blending techniques.
Secondly, the composition of the painting is really engaging. The road winds through the scene, drawing your eye deeper into the painting. This would be a cool way to practice perspective and learn how to create a sense of depth. Plus, there's a stream that reflects the colors of the trees, which adds another layer of complexity and beauty to the scene. It's like a double-whammy of awesome elements to paint!
So, whether you're a beginner just picking up a brush for the first time or a more experienced artist, this painting offers a lot to learn and enjoy. It's not just about making something pretty; it's about mastering the skills that let you capture the beauty of the world around you.
It is a 6x8 2-Cookie tutorial for our Red, Pink, and Purple Members.
