A Heartfelt Thanksgiving Message: Gratitude for Your Impact

This Thanksgiving, we at Habitat Forsyth want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support. As we begin to celebrate 40 years of building homes, community, and hope, we’re reminded of the countless lives you’ve touched through your generosity and commitment.

This year has brought its share of challenges—from rising costs to shifts in the housing market—but your dedication has never faltered. Because of you, families are turning dreams of homeownership into reality. Together, we’re not just building houses; we’re creating stability, opportunity, and brighter futures for our neighbors.

As we mark this milestone year, we want you to know that your contributions—whether on the construction site, in the office, or through your generous donations—are the backbone of everything we do. Your support fuels our mission and makes all of this possible.

Looking ahead, we’re filled with hope and excitement for what’s to come. Your continued partnership inspires us to tackle every challenge and break down barriers to affordable housing. Thank you for being such an integral part of the Habitat Forsyth family. Your impact is profound, and we’re so grateful to have you on this journey with us.

Shining a Light: Truist's Lighthouse Project Boosts Habitat Forsyth's Mission

As part of Truist Bank’s Lighthouse Project, Truist purchased essential equipment and materials for Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County, powering our mission to build affordable homes. This generous contribution included such items as power drills, ladders, and safety gear—tools that enhance safety and efficiency on build sites. In addition to the equipment, Truist mobilized 45 employees across four build days, working hand-in-hand with Habitat staff and future homeowners.

"We are truly grateful to Truist’s Lighthouse Project for their generous contribution of materials and tools," said Paola Candelaria, Chief Program Officer. "Our construction staff was thrilled and deeply appreciative of this contribution, which will significantly enhance their efficiency and ability to do their jobs effectively."

Truist's support not only equips our team with the resources they need but also inspires us all to continue building homes and hope for the families we serve.

Through the Lighthouse Project, Truist helped illuminate the path to affordable housing, creating a brighter future for families in Forsyth County.

A Fresh Start: Brittany's Path to a Safe, Happy Home

Getting a Habitat home was both exciting and a relief for Brittany. She was especially glad for her 10-year-old son, who would finally be able to play outside with other kids on Free Street, where all five Habitat Home Builders Blitz families have children.

Living in an apartment in a less-than-safe neighborhood, her son didn’t have many chances to interact with other kids outside of school. The new home would give him the freedom to play, ride his bike, and simply be a kid.

Brittany was also relieved for her 17-year-old daughter, who has sickle cell anemia. “When you’re renting, you never know if the property is up to code. Now, with a newly built home, I don’t have to worry about things like mold,” said Brittany.

A dispatcher for a non-emergency medical transportation company, Brittany had moved to Winston-Salem four years ago and joined the Habitat program in 2022. She worked on other Habitat homes and found the financial literacy classes “humbling” yet transformative. “They teach you a lot and make you save for your house. I’m now much more aware of my finances.”

Brittany was thrilled to be part of the Habitat Home Builders Blitz last May. “I was nervous and excited all at the same time. I am so grateful for this opportunity!”
