Dear Eastern FC Families,
As the snow is removed from the fields, we return to playing Spring soccer. Last Spring was much different and we are so happy to be able to be out there competing with our teams again. We have seen signs so many signs of hope for the future and we all have been EASTERN STRONG to get to this point together.
We are so grateful for all of you and as we pass the one year mark of the beginning of this pandemic, we are proud of the club that we are. We are proud of our players and families. And, most importantly, we are proud to continue to provide a safe environment for our players to develop in. We stand behind our values and look forward to continuing the season.
Enjoy this newsletter which has a ton of great information and resources.
LOVE,
Eastern FC

Patience...
Patience...one of our club values has certainly been asked of our players, coaches, and parents. While we all want to get outside and start competing again, everyone involved has been excellent while waiting for the snow to thaw to give us the ability to start training outside again.
Our winter programs including indoor training sessions, fitness Fridays with Coach Amanda from Downstate Crossfit, as well as the start of our outdoor sessions gave us awesome opportunities. All of the girls across the club have shown a lot of character and integrity as they have been working hard and have been getting better week after week. The goalkeepers for the girl’s teams haven’t missed a single goalkeeper specific training session all winter and they are ready to make an impact! We can all tell that all of the girls in the club are eager to compete and have been staying positive throughout.
With our spring season ahead, there are so many positive things to look forward to. Tournaments, Leagues, State Cup Games, are all on the horizon. The excitement is building, our coaches have done a great job getting the girls ready, and we are all really excited to see what our girls’ program will accomplish this spring!
Sincerely,
Jason Torres

CHARACTER...
As we have just come down the final straight of the winter you have all shown great strength of CHARACTER to consistently practice whether it was with your team in the gym, on a fitness webinar, at SUNY Purchase, on your own, or on periodic team webinars. We have all made sure we adapted as well as reacted, and we are so proud of the work you have put in to be the best you can be for the upcoming season.
Character is at the core of ones self. What and How we do everything set before us will reflect our true Character as an Individual, as a TEAM, and, ultimately, as a Club. It is imperative that we continue to allow our Character to be reflected in how we drive our mental attitude and desire to rise to all challenges set before us this spring in a positive manner so the result of these tests will be clearly seen by all as a job very well done.
We all now look forward to playing outside with optimism, enthusiasm, and still aware of the safety protocols needed to allow us to continue move down the continuous road of return. With full time outside training for all of our teams commencing it has been very encouraging to see many of our boys teams throughout the program start the spring playing in competitive tournaments and pushing themselves to give the best they can give.
Well done to all the players and coaches as this has again shown your Character and this is why we have Character as one of the Core Values of the Club.
Let’s move forward into the spring taking full advantage of this opportunity we have.
Yours in Soccer,
Kirk Bamford

Doing the Work When NO ONE Else is Watching.
If there has been one silver lining in the pandemic it has been our ability to be creative in our spaces at home to perform our day to day tasks.
One thing we want to make sure that our players are reminded of is the importance of putting in the work to get better beyond your practice time.
We encourage you all to make sure that you are doing your homework, watching videos recommended by your coaches, and, most importantly, finding a place outside to train.
If the only time you are working on your soccer is when you are on the field with your teammates, then you are not only doing yourself a disservice, but you are also letting your team down.
We wanted to take this moment to remind all players that as the weather is getting warmer, the opportunity to get outside with a ball and find ten or more minutes multiple times each week is imperative.
If you want to get better, you have to go above and beyond the minimum. And, you have to motivate yourself, because it's not about who is watching. It is about how hard you are willing to work.

"My daughter has really enjoyed playing with this team and Eastern has been nothing but professional and transparent and I can’t tell you how much we appreciate that. Thank you for caring about our girls. I look forward to watching her develop, grow and mature into a young woman and a stronger soccer player. I appreciate the feedback and how her coach views her and his guidance on how she can improve."
