Meet Nurse Jen

Hello, Conger Elementary families!

My name is Jennifer Zeigler, and I am excited to begin my 5th year as the nurse at Conger Elementary School, and my 8th year as a nurse in the school district.

On an average day, I see more than 50 students for a wide variety of reasons. From bumps and scrapes, to students who simply aren’t feeling their best, my goal is always to make sure your child feels cared for, supported, and ready to return to learning.

Some of the everyday care I provide includes treating minor injuries, providing medications as prescribed, and offering things such as mints, ice packs, or heating pads when appropriate. I also monitor students who may not be feeling well and determine what support they need.

I want families to know that I do not call home for every minor injury or visit to the health office. However, I will contact you anytime a student bumps their head, or has a visible mark from an injury. If an injury is the result of a conflict with another student, you may be contacted by a school counselor or administrator. I will also call home when a larger concern arises or when I feel an issue may not resolve before your child gets home, or if your child has a fever or illness that requires them to be sent home..

My job is to support your student's health concerns while limiting the amount of time they miss from class whenever possible. Every student is different, and their needs are unique. I believe in individualized care and work to make decisions based on what is best for each student.

Thank you for trusting me to care for your children each day. I look forward to another wonderful year at Conger Elementary!

Transportation Updates

The Delaware City School District operates 53 buses, covering approximately 41 square miles. Our transportation staff travels in excess of 1,600 miles per day. At times, the buses may run slightly late due to various reasons. If your child's but has not arrived on time, please check the BUS ROUTE STATUS on the website, or contact Transportation for the most up to date information,740-833-1650 . Bus drivers are needed. If you are interested in applying, reach out to The Transportation Office.

Crucial Safety Reminders: Please review these essential arrival and dismissal procedures to keep all of our students safe:

  • Arrival: Make sure students are dropped off on Winter Street. Walkers must use sidewalks and crosswalks at all times. For the safety of everyone, please do not let students out of cars in the bus line.
  • Dismissal Changes: Please call the main office directly for any dismissal changes as early as possible, preferably by 2:00pm.
  • Walker Pickup Line: The walker pickup line starts at the flagpole. Guardians should share their child's name with the staff member on duty, and your child will walk out to meet you.
  • Car Line Pickup: Students are called to go to a specific cone for pickup. They should wait there until your car reaches that cone. Please do not ask your child to walk down the line to your vehicle.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe! We look forward to seeing everyone soon.
