Grandma Obaru
My Ugandan grandmother Obaru has gone to be with Jesus. God had allowed us to have such a special bond together, proving that God’s love goes beyond race and distance. She was such a special woman, her life was set apart to care for her grandchildren and love Christ.
She was bold and courageous in that she had to make a decision to leave the faith that she grew up with to become a Christian setting an example for the entire community.
Many teams from Calvary Chapel WestGrove have gone to visit her. Taking teams to meet her was one of the favorite things I did each time I visited Uganda and I want to thank everyone who went to visit her. Grandma so looked forward to our teams coming and the gifts that she would receive. I will never forget how she would take the white sugar that came from America, pour it in her hand the second we gave it to her, and immediately lick it off with her tongue. Obaru was such a personality, always laughing, joking, and boy did she love to tease me.
Once Obaru fell in love with Jesus, she became a lover of the Proclaimer, the solar powered audio Bible that ministered to her daily. She was a pillar in her family and she will be so greatly missed. Please pray for her family in Uganda as they mourn her passing. Pray that through her testimony, many will come to know Jesus as Savior.
