Today is Patriot Day, a day when people across the United States take time to remember a very important moment in our country’s history.

On September 11, 2001, many brave people—including firefighters, police officers, doctors, and everyday citizens—worked together to help others and keep people safe.

On this day every year, we honor those heroes and remember all the people who were affected. We also remember the important lesson left to us by Sandy Dahl, whose husband was one of the brave pilots that day. She reminded us that "life is short and there is no time for hate."

Today is a gentle reminder for all of us to practice kindness, help one another, and show appreciation for the helpers and first responders in our own community.

Dear Parents and Families,

Safety is our top priority. Please make sure you and your child are using the crosswalks at arrival and dismissal — a small habit that keeps everyone safe.

What a great turnout at PTO Bingo Night last night! It's always a joy to see our school community come together to have fun and support one another.

A few reminders for next week: our PTO meeting is Tuesday, and mum pick-up is Thursday. Thank you to everyone who sold and/or purchased mums this fall — your support directly benefits our students and school programs.

I also want to give a shout-out to our teachers and staff, who continue to go above and beyond in the classroom every single day. Whether it's a creative lesson, an extra bit of encouragement, or just a warm "good morning," their dedication doesn't go unnoticed.

And to our families — thank you for the countless ways you support your children and our school, from bedtime reading to volunteering your time to simply showing up with a smile at drop-off. It truly takes a village, and I'm proud of the one we have here.

Timing Your School Day

Breakfast is served from 8:00 am - 8:20 am.

Doors open for students eating breakfast at 8:00 am.

All other students may enter the building at 8:20 am when the first bell rings.

Tardy bell rings / entrance doors are closed at 8:30 am. Students arriving after 8:30 must be signed in through the office and obtain a pass.

There will be a charge for school lunches and breakfast this year.

If you believe you qualify for free or reduced meal benefits, please complete the meal application during the forms process. Parents may add money to lunch accounts through Payschools or by sending money with the student in a sealed envelope.

Student Absence Reporting Procedure

Please report your child's absence by calling

If you are a new user, you must create an online account to use the web portal / phone app features. Your email must match the email you use to log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal.

If you do not report your child's absence, you will receive phone calls / texts / emails via our interactive phone system for you to verify your student's absence. You may also receive calls from the school office.

You may report your student's absence for the same day until 15 minutes after the start of school. After that time, you must call the school office or use the interactive features when you receive a notification call.

You can schedule planned absences in advance by using the online portal or Smartphone App.

It is important that you maintain a current phone number and email address with your child's school to ensure timely communication regarding your child.

Changes in your student's normal dismissal routine:

Please send a note to your child's teacher and contact the school office at 740-833-1450. Please call the office by 2:00 pm for any same day dismissal changes. If there is no contact with the school regarding the change, your child will follow their normal dismissal routine.

Cell Phone Policy Reminder

The State of Ohio recently passed legislation that prohibits the use of cell phones during the school day in an effort to minimize distractions and support a focused learning environment for all students. Student use of cellular phones and other electronic communication devices will not be permitted during the school day from 8:30-3:15.

Personal communication devices, including cell phones, earbuds, headphones and watches, must be powered off and stored out of sight during the entire school day. Exceptions may be made to accommodate IEP/504 plans and for documented medical reasons.

As always, if you have an urgent need to get a message to your student, please call our school office and our staff will ensure the message is delivered.

Text Messages: Parents / legal guardians can receive school updates via text message from our principal and DCS. You must opt in by texting the word YES to 67587 from your cell phone . The cell phone number must be attached to your student in PowerSchool to be valid. If you receive a message that the number is not in the DCS system, please contact the Carlisle office and request to add your number or make a change to the number we have on file. Enhanced School Volunteer Procedures

In order to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff and volunteers, the following volunteer guidelines and expectations will need to be completed prior to volunteering in our schools:

Volunteers must complete the volunteer form each school year in which they wish to volunteer.
Volunteers must complete and acknowledge the volunteer training (training video included in the form).
Volunteers working in our buildings under the supervision of school staff (library volunteer, classroom volunteer, field day volunteer, guest speaker/reader, PTO volunteers, etc.) must sign in using the district's visitor management system.
Volunteers who will be supervising students other than their own child on offsite field trips or overnight trips will be required to complete a more extensive background check (there is a nominal fee for a background check). School staff will notify a volunteer if a background check is required and provide an online link to complete the background check.

Football Friday Nights are an exciting time for our students and families. As we get ready to cheer on our Pacers, please be reminded of the following expectations for students:

All students and spectators must be in the seating area to watch the game -- no horseplay or running around the bleachers/concession areas is permitted.
No spectators are permitted on the track unless granted permission for a specific reason.
Students are not permitted to bring bags/backpacks into the stadium.
Footballs, scooters, bikes and skateboards are not permitted in the stadium.
Students under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult who is attending the game.
ALL school rules apply at school events.
