A new effort to teach teens how to drive safely through work zones has launched in Missouri.
On March 23, student traffic safety leaders from 11 Missouri schools were joined by MoDOT, MSHP and other safety advocates to announce the launch of Missouri Work Zone Safe, a free online educational course that teaches new drivers work zone safety and how to share the road with first responders.
All teen drivers are encouraged to take this course. Teens who complete the course can enter to win a $500 Work Zone Safe scholarship.
The program launch happened during the annual TRACTION Youth Traffic Safety Leadership Conference in Columbia. Teens Taking Action to Prevent Traffic Crashes (TRACTION) is a statewide program sponsored by MoDOT which empowers young people to take an active role in promoting safe driving habits.
