Helping Fight Wildfires Too Close To Home
To protect our community and lessen our wildfire risk, a Sincuidados committee is working with the Scottsdale Fire Department to take steps to help Sincuidados join a nationwide network of Firewise USA® sites. FireWise USA® is a voluntary program that provides a framework to help neighbors get organized to reduce the wildfire risk to their homes and communities.

The Sincuidados NAOS/Firewise Committee met with the Scottsdale Fire Department and toured our community. Sincuidados will need to complete three phases during a three-year period to receive Firewise recognition:
The Firewise Committee includes Bill Potter, John Main, Wes Liefer, Gina Clark, Bonnie Walsh, Jean Bingham and Jade the Chocolate Lab. Member John Miller is not pictured.
  • Phase One will focus on fire mitigating areas the HOA is responsible for including the clubhouse and outside the perimeter wall. You may see work removing dead tree limbs and shrubs outside the wall in coming weeks.
  • Phase Two will focus on roadsides inside our community and educating homeowners on how they can protect their houses.
  • Phase Three will focus on the Lone Mountain Preserve.

The Scottsdale Fire Department was complimentary of work already completed to remove invasive grasses, but the committee’s goal is to build further awareness and provide additional education for homeowners and contractors on protecting our community from the risk of wildfires.

The committee plans to post FAQs and regularly share fire prevention tips with the community. When safe, the committee will hold a community event in conjunction with the Fire Department.
A Firewise Tip
Be aware of cigarette butts and their danger. Request that your landscapers, pool maintenance, pest service, delivery personnel and any other maintenance vendors respect our rules.
