Greetings!

On September 7, Blessed Carlo Acutis will be canonized alongside Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. Acutis, the first millennial saint, has already inspired many of our young people. In anticipation of the canonization, the National Catholic Register published an interview with his mother. The interview is worth a read, but one line especially stood out: “Holiness is in the ordinary; bringing the extraordinary into the ordinary. This is what Carlo and Pier Giorgio did.”

In the coming days, students will return to our schools for a new year. New beginnings often stir expectations for the extraordinary, yet such aspirations can sometimes feel limiting. A school year may appear ordinary, but it holds ample opportunity for holiness. Each day God’s extraordinary love and grandeur are revealed in simple, unexpected ways.

My prayers are with you as you begin this school year that you may discover holiness in each of your students and the ordinary moments of school life.

With gratitude,

NICHOLAS FORD | Superintendent

Office for Catholic Schools | Archdiocese of Seattle
