The Hospice House Steering Committee is comprised of the Four Tides board, staff and five community members. The committee met on December 2, 2022, to draft a development plan based on the community engagement campaign. The report documenting the retreat’s outcomes is posted on our website.

The Hospice House Development Plan is also drafted and pending approval at the next Steering Committee meeting which will be held in early February. Steering committee sub-committees will also assume responsibility to execute tasks associated with our first quarter goals. The plan is a ‘living document’ and will change as we move through the process. The job for all our board, staff, and volunteers is to get out into community and talk up the Hospice House initiative. We need to create a lot of ‘buzz’ around town and build up knowledge and excitement.

In British Columbia, when someone dies and you need to look after their affairs, you will make decisions about what to do next. The checklist can be used on its own or with the website. It’s also a good idea to have a journal or create a file folder on your computer to keep track of key information. Each death is different. Handling the affairs of someone who died is also always different. Not everything on the checklist will apply to you, but it will point you in the right direction.
