Season’s Greetings, !
The Staff and Board of Directors of Feeding Pets of the Homeless wish you a Happy Holiday season, and a peaceful, prosperous New Year.

I am so proud of the accomplishments of the staff this year. They have been able to adapt to the stress and challenges that COVID causes.  During the Holiday Season, we remain dedicated to helping pets belonging to the homeless.

We want to take this opportunity to “Thank You” for your past support. We look forward to moving into the New Year together.

With warm wishes,
Genevieve Frederick

Success Stories
Santa's Story
A woman has been homeless for about 3 years, living in a tent by the railroad tracks in Beaumont, CA.  She is disabled and recycles to make money. Santa, her cat, had developed a hot spot on her tail and was licking it raw. Homeless verification was provided by a local church. Feeding Pets of the Homeless approved an exam at a partner animal hospital near her.
After the exam, Santa was diagnosed with an infected bite wound. We approved treatment which included antibiotic injection and medications. We contributed $124 and received a discount of $13. Santa is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery.
Kat's Story
A homeless woman has been living in her RV with no power or water in Sacramento, CA for many years. She is disabled, living on SSI and food stamps. She parks on streets where she feels safe. Kat has been her companion and protection for 11 years. Kat is a German Shepard Mix. The woman called Feeding Pets of the HomelessÂź after finding us on the internet.
Kat had been involved in a hit-and-run car accident. She thought Kat had internal bleeding and a broken leg and suffered for three days before she reached out for help. We approved an exam at a partner veterinary hospital. The veterinarian diagnosed several fractures in Kat that required an exam, x-rays and sedation. She was sent home with pain medication. We contributed $703 for this treatment. He also gave a referral for possible neurological issues at the follow-up visit with a possibility of tail amputation. He believed this would be a $6,000 surgery.
Feeding Pets of the Homeless approved the follow-up exam at another partner veterinarian.
Kat's tail condition was further evaluated and we also provided funding for vaccinations and worm prevention. We contributed $407. The veterinarian provided an estimate for the tail amputation with a low estimate of $1,518. We partnered with the Chester Foundation to pledge the remaining amount for the surgery.
